AnonD-694886, 14 Jun 2018All credibility was lost when you used hashtag. At the end of the day, would you purchase a... moreYes. Without doubt.

SoC is important of couse. But... Still it is the one important part on the phone. There is much important parts on the phone and all of the parts is still depens to OEMs.

If OEMs can optimizing the Mediatek SoC by performs, features and updates, there is not problem at all for most users like me.

Mediatek may (may? Nope its already looks bad) looks bad due most OEM is not releasing potential on Mediatek SoCs and for now its only one Meizu Pro 7, that phone has comparable perform between Snapdragon and Exynos powered phones.

The features of Mediatek that I like is (25W/15W wireless charge) Pump Express, Increasing video frame rates (Clear Motion, I do not know about other SoCs), PowerVR GPU characteristics, Tri-Cluster CPUs and of course Core Pilot. But no one OEMs totally use all potential on Mediatek phones.

With that all potentials, there is no doubt for me to do not buy Mediatek phones. Even buying Kirin powered phones. But from that I said before, if OEMs can optimize overall perform, features and updates cause there is still much Snapdragon powered phones but still not really optimized.

AnonD-694886, 13 Jun 2018MediaTek doesn't release security patches as often as their rivals. Yes, they are this stupid.Bro its still depends OEMs. Even The first Android One was Mediatek Powered phones still fastly updated security patches. Google releasing security patches not Mediatek. -_-

Security patches is minor upgrades, no need to built from zero to update security patches unlike upgrade before Android O but most OEMs is lazy.

Even more, most Mediatek phones always has locked Boot Loader makes root users do not want to buy Mediatek phones and you know root makes weaker security on Android OS.

Luckily, seems Google forcing OEMs to update their security patches.

I'll wait for the reviews and aftewards I'll decide between Redmi 5 and Redmi 6, but Redmi 5 is too big (6 is big too)

All for all, I think Xiaomi was too early to announce the Redmi 5's successor. It should be called Redmi 5X for the 6, and 5A Prime for the 6A. Or did they repeat the naming scheme variation pattern of Redmi Note 3 / Redmi Note 4 on 2016/17, when the RN4 was the 'living partner' of the RN3?

Anonymous, 12 Jun 2018Phone makers like slim phones because most customers like slim phones. So no to big fat batter... moreLast time I checked, Redmi 6 is considerably longer, slightly wider & slightly thinner than Redmi 4.
I don't believe Xiaomi designers have had less space for big 4000 mAh battery. Either they are plain lazy to design a new battery shape to adapt with the change in dimensions, or they just cut cost here, or they deliberately put meagre 3000 mAh battery for quicker planned obsolescence, or worst case all those possible reasons combined.

Even I think Mediatek is not stupid like that, they closed source is only affect on OS upgrades not for minor upgrades.

bref, 12 Jun 2018It's basically an overclocked Helio P10.It's not...
P18 is a modified P10...and we don't know what exactly is modified (still 28nm?)
P10 already exists with 2.0ghz frequency in 28nm (or 1.8Ghz too)

                              P22 uses 12nm process
                              LTE cat 7
                              LPDDR4X
                              Bluetooth 5.0
                              Adds ac wifi
                              Dual-volte
