ProJames, 14 Jun 2018I know the way to riches is a very laborious one and I do not undermine their work at all and ... moreIf turning back time is possible, I would turn back to the era where smartphones have a considerable amount of bezel and a decent design that wouldn't disappoint. At least it gives each brand a identity of their own, not like current smartphones where everything including the bezels and the design are more or less the same...

Walter C. However that's the kind of purchase that clearly says you do not care at all about money. I would not say the same about a luxury car, which has more than gold to show as luxurious, or to the limit a mansion, which also serves a purpose other than showing you have money.

And yes, modern era phones are mostly boring slabs (with notches for 70% of them)

It's not for everybody, and it's only intended for people sitting their chairs, earning millions, and buy this special product.

Even ... moreOr perhaps it is because said rich person has been working hard on their company, and decided to treat himself after realizing his or her phone is getting laggy or something. Maybe it's the want to have something that stands out from the crowd, something interesting in the sea of solid color smartphones we have today. Hell it might be even what you say. My point is that you shouldn't dismiss every rich person as snobby or spoiled. Some are genuinely nice and most work hard at their job. They just have the means to treat themselves.

The text engraved on the bottom lowers the "premium" feeling, literally obliterating it. Even their logo looks cheap.

But who am I to judge. Maybe rich dudes like that kind of stuff, enough to shell out a month's salary of a hard working minimal wage person, just to rub it on the said person's face
