At times sony launches out of the box with latest OS even before pixels. You should try a google search of the most stable Android OS mobiles.

Hint: Not Oneplus.

PS. Sony helped google in making Oreo what it is. My dear, you really need google is your life. Plus, oneplus has absolutely just one line of mobile to update.

All the launcher these days are almost same, and the best offer is from Google!! Or the modded ones. Maybe it's time someone make a different but better UI. With Android P I don't think anyone going to convince me to switch from the default launcher, but please change my mind.

And sony phones are the first non pixel devices to get updated and sometimes receive security updates alongside pixels. More importantly, those are stable upates unlike OPs half baked updates which either mess up your bluetooth, wifi, bootloader or whatnot.

Have you used OnePlus devices? They get faster OTA and beta updates unlike Sony which takes longer to reach to mobile carriers, hearing current Sony flagship rolled out Oreo updates when OnePlus devices got it last year.

I use Buzz Launcher for my Sony phones. It's free and it has gestures, a TON of customizations, including setting GIFs as icons.
Just delete all the screens when you first set it up and start fresh, so you don't get confused by the widgets.
There's also Buzz Widget which allows you to make your unique widgets.
The Xperia Launcher is rather dull and minimal, but will do its job ok.
It's all up to you and what kind of a user you are.

Anonymous, 15 Jun 2018They should copy Oxygen OS, much faster and stable with no bloatware. Seriously. You expect sony to copy some garbage from a garbage phone maker. Oxygen os is the most jagged and inconsistent and doesnt even qualify to be called a launcher. Sony had better launcher than it 5 years ago.

Or how about USB C earbuds?? They supplied a dongle for 3.5mm jack but still supplied earphones with 3.5mm cable, as if they absolutely wants the users to keep using the dongle.

Instead of 'others are removing it so we did it too without thinking', it is more of a 'we can't accommodate it, since majorities are removing it, and we already offer loads of wireless solutions, with our LDAC technology, given in 2018 where majorities of headphones shipped are wireless, we decided there is no harm not including it like the others'.
