I think its different according to countries. Being a pakistani I know retension rate of Nokia will be much heigher. I far as I know Android is the best OS in the world and Samsung best menufacturer.
Evenif iPhone will be as bad as 1990's phone with small monochrome screen, no wlan, no 3G internet, no camera, not touch screen, ..etc.. people will still buy iPhone because that's the trend.
would you not think that the ammount of people usinq apple compared to the ammount of people using, lets say samsung... is greater! so there fore 11% of apple users could ammount to 100 people, but the lets say 60% of samsung users could potentialy only be 90 people!!! just a thought!!! ; /
You people do realize that the brand new iphone 5 which isnt even out yet is already obsolete. You do realize that ? It's gonna be like last year's dual core androids. now the new upcoming Tegra 3 Kal-El is gonna rock the world of mobile phone. 4cpu core + 12 gpu cores + 1 slack core to do the boring background tasks...lol a slacking 500mhz just like the n97 i use right now lol and then 16 more core....Forget mali this adreno that...Tegra 3 is awesome on paper and since it's nVidia i see no reason to dissapoint. Now slap IceCream Sandwich on here with a usb support and full usb keyboard and bluetooth paired mouse, wifi on hdmi attached...darn Coubter strike q.y time yet again...damn that Kal-El chip has a lot of power.
Interesting responses. If people wanna be brand loyal then it's up to them. Believe it or not there's people out there who still think Nokia is the best lol! Am not an Iphone user just coz I can't afford to splash out all that dosh on it, but I do acknowledge that it is a fantastic piece of equipment and if I could afford it I would buy one.
The Iphone is an all rounder. Apple's eco system is probably the best and a lot more secure, developers know they'll get something for their hard work coz users can only install via itunes. For android all you need to do is Google the apk files and you got your app for free, not very encouraging for developers who want to get paid.
To simplify it, the best developers would rather develop for IOS, hence more people are attracted to the iphone. I like to compose music and would like to capture my ideas on the go, I have seen a few apps for the Iphone that I can only wish for being an Android user.
The smartphone has evolved folks, it's not just about making phones calls any more, it's what you can do with it and I'll bet you can do a whole lot more on the Iphone than any other smartphone around.

I don't see any difference :P
Like I said before...
People can say sh*t of iPhone BUT millions of users don't think same.
People that use iPhone don't care is Android, Nokia, Blackberry or anything else runs faster, looks prettier, have major screen or have a better camera.
They pay everything for their beloved iPhones because THEY LIKE IT.
That's something people is hard to understand but it's the true, iPhone will still have millions of followers, and they don't care your comment or mine. They will get on line and buy one ASAP and as soon they reach the stores.
Just wait to see the numbers once they release the new iPhone :P

Is it the same to pay 750€ for sgsii with all these specs and 750€ for iphone with half of them? Android was very unstable but with gingerbread is allmost equal with ios.And what about appstore?99% of both android and ios apps are useless but apple sell their products expensive because as they say they have thousands of them.So what? And what if devs prefer to publice them through apple? After 10 days android also offers them so where are the apple benefits?

specs, specs and specs... boring as hell! When these android users understand that specs arent everything. Look these researches, customer satisfactions and everything else. If specs are everything why everytime iPhone is top of these? and everyone else are far behind.
Me too .. I will buy another Apple product not only iPhone but also MacBook Air and iPad if I could .. this company is unique and clever its products have some thing different.

It is something that most geeks don't understand. The masses are not geeks like themselves and those geeks that have iPhones are smart enough to get around the restriction by jailbreaking. A jailbroken iPhone is as customizable as a rooted Android phone.
uBS is an Apple fan. They were bribed to write this survey result and make Apple look good and make Nokia look bad. There is no way that Nokia have that little retention rate. People loves Nokia. Everyone loves Nokia. It's the best cellphone brand and it's way better than Samsung which releases atleast 2 galaxy phones a week.
I am not surprised that Android, even as a whole, got little retention rate. It's a geek's dream OS but it's not for the average joe and it's overhyped. The hype surrounding Android does not translate into retention and that means people are not happy with their Android phones and are willing to jump ship.
People just needs to have a different alternative and I believe that come next year, the Nokia Mango phones will be eating at Android's marketshare. Ice Cream Sandwich looks like weak sauce and people, not the geeks, are hungry for an Android alternative.
One time victim, allways victim. Ok iphone was something unique when came out the first time but giving 750$ every year when you can find better specs with less money is mad.Samsung has better specs and learnt from their mistakes (omnia hd and galaxy s support), htc is allways fast with updates so what's the point buying such an expensive phone with so many restrictions?
lol. ofcourse, cause of their marketing campaing! htc is the best brand of smartphone technology in the world!
Why? Because people mostly know and think iphones are the best phones out there. I remember when iphones didnt exist and people would be questioning my non contracted phone asking what phone it is and they would be the ones rocking their shitty typical verizon and sprint phones. Same thing right now, they don't know that theres other good phones out there.
