I simply can't see the sense it made to them when they decided to make phones 18:9

Looks like really stupid idea. They are neglecting comfortable and convenient use for some gimmick. Phones usually fall, there is not a single person that didn't drop his phone at least once. So the slider mechanism will stop working after the fall, how will you unlock the phone?
This sort of kinetic technology in which something pops out, or slides in and out, or flips, or turns, or folds, when some parts are moving and re-adjusting, it's just stupid and unnecessary, and definitely not durable.

Hoffmann, 19 Jun 2018Gentleman, this phone is absolutely a game-changer on the market. The idea with the pop-up sli... morehave you ever owned a phone with a lens cover?
I owned a Sony-Ericsson k800i and a friend of mine owned a Nokia N73. After about 1 year, the cover became a bit loose, it wouldn't always turn the camera on when opened, and the problem became worse week by week.

Mechanical parts wear over time. Mechanical parts that you have to use 20+ times a day to unlock the phone aren't a good idea.

Wow. Somehow everyone became a mechaical expert after the release of this and the vivo nex phone, but these so called experts tend to forget that flip phones and slide phones were also a thing.

Problems I see:
Not waterproof or IP rated
No case will work
To fat at 10mm
Motorized part prone to failure or blockade from dirt.

I would rather have IP waterproof than a front facing camera. Only 12 year old girls take selfies and facetime. There are better solutions than a motorized front camera. Ranging from a camera the flips over from the back, to adding a second smaller screen on the back for the 12 year old girls that still take selfies and facetime. To the best solution, no front camera at all for real men.

Gentleman, this phone is absolutely a game-changer on the market. The idea with the pop-up slider is just amazing. Phone looks very clean on the back, without the camera. The front is gorgeous too. Money spent on this, would be totally worth it.

This remind me of Nokia 8800 and Samsung D900. I miss how great the feeling of slide up to receive calls. The time that mobile phones look different. Good job Oppo.

Design wise the X factor is there.

Functional wise it is worse than Vivo. Something cheap like a rear mounted fingerprint will cause this sliding camera to open million times more just to unlock your device. The huge slider looks cool but makes the use of a case mission impossible, where Vivo can get the case with just a small cutout on the top for the camera.

What I like more is the conventional speaker. It provides much better experience and makes the phone symmetrical.

Overall this is a nice device to watch at the store but not very practical.
