LG Superfan, 20 Jun 2018Find X took away Nex S shine, Find X is the first true bezel less phonethat's what i tot at first, then i realised Nex S has fingerprint scanner and speaker thru the glass.. so.. i think i'll prefer Vivo even if its sacrificing a tiny bit of screen estate to the Find X
and finally disappeared completely with the launch of the vivo NEX series - you forgot the SHarp Aquos crystal in 2014 and the mi mix1 in 2016? Both had NO earpiece and predated ALL other smartphones using the same system. Sadly Xiaomi went back to earpiece with the 2 and 2s, which still predate the NEX. Why don't you ever mention them when talking about the NEX? Its not like vivo is more popular than sharp or xiaomi? Remember the beginings...
why they use motor to pop up it's camera? I think spring mechanism like a DSLR flash is better, so you can manually open or close the camera just in case of software failure or human error, and it's quite fast to pop the camera with spring instead of motor
Design-wise Oppo Find X is better, but feature wise this one definitely wins.
Bon Jovi as my assistant? Great, this phone is all singing all dancing...
Walter C. Dornez, 20 Jun 2018Um, can someone tell me how do you calculate screen to body ratio? Cuz we got two conflicting ... moreIt's very Easy. The formula for calculating bezels is very easy. (So does StB calculations)
Measure the screen's dimensions in milimeters. Height x width. Once you got the numbers, substract the total device's dimension in said Axis (vertical is height, Horizontal is Width)
In case of width, simply divide the number by two.
In case of height, take a ruler, and simply try to "pin" with your eye where the bezel stops and the screen starts.
One vertical stat is required. Take the bezel measured, and substract that from the total bezel measured.
If you aren't good by pinning, take a magnifier, and estimate which line of the ruler the bezel is closer to.
The calculation of StB is the area of Screen divided by total height/Width multiplied by 100

What a weird screen Aspect Ratio.
It's not 16:9. It's not even 18:9. It's almost a copy of Samsung/Apple's 19:9 aspect ratio. Instead its close to 20:9.
I mean, why didn't you just go for 21:9 and at least then market this as a "Widescreen Phone" or a "Movie Phone" instead ??
PS, I don't like the electronic mechanism of showing the front camera... a solution like the Huawei Honor 7i would've been more sturdy and offered a much higher quality Selfie camera with a flash light.

Not bad. Would rather be waterproof and shatterproof than have a front camera. Or just put a smaller screen on the back with the good camera for selfies and facetime. Still, price the US model at $400 with support and warranty and you would kill Apple and Samsung.

GSMArena should do an article about that! Is there an algorithm for calculating around all those curved edges and bezels? And notches? It'd be an interesting topic for sure.
that chin annoys me
This one is better than Oppo find X
Walter C. Dornez, 20 Jun 2018Um, can someone tell me how do you calculate screen to body ratio? Cuz we got two conflicting ... moreDon't believe the OEM. Believe a group of tech journalists that use the same method of measuring STB ratios across every single device. If they are wrong, you can still compare a constant value across multiple devices and still have a perfectly valid comparison
As much as i'm a fan of the sliding cam, oppo's implementation is much more refined imo. But kudos still to vivo for leading the revolution.

Um, can someone tell me how do you calculate screen to body ratio? Cuz we got two conflicting ratios and I'm not sure which one to believe.
