This is the main reason why I only install the light versions of Facebook applications. When you're on an internet plan with datacap, those video ads will happily eat your monthly allocated data.

Using your phone network's sms service is fine and all till the person you want to talk to is in another country or even continent. Most service providers do not provide international sms, unless its a premium service.

abigfanoftechs, 20 Jun 2018Not heard of email and/or telephone call? You're just looking for excuses to feed your addict... moreAre you kidding me? Some of use have to use Facebook. I wanted to ditch it after High school, but we have a Uni group, and my study group's group on Facebook, so i kinda have to have a Facebook to be up to date with a lot of info, or easily ask people. There simply is no alternative for us.

Even a friend that didn't have a Facebook, he had to open an account when we started Uni, simply for those few groups.

As for ads, i'm definitely uninstalling messenger if/when they put them. I'll just use Lite that doesn't have ads, or get some 3rd party app.

Also, i think there're some modded Messenger and Facebook apps on XDA, so i'll take a look at them to see if they're any good.
