After all, if the phone gets consistent OS updates doesn't suffer from lag, then consumers won't need to buy newer Samsung phones more frequently (versus current scenario of buying newer phones when the older one is laggy and has no OS updates).

A good move, especially on developing countries where most people have long been "exposed" to custom OEM skins, which also means people there have been customized to many niche features found on custom skins.
So let's see if the relatively bare stock android can succed.

I have to admit, I see the appeal of stock Android, but I still am looking forward to seeing the new Crown UX. Hopefully, I Ice Universe wasn't kidding about how good it is.
