Hybrid dual sim is very convenient for me when iam travelling to overseas. With that, I can put the overseas sim card in my phone and then deactivate my local sim card instead of taking out my local sim card.
I'm alright with hybrid dual sim but I do understand the need for dual sim with dedicated microSD card. Let's face it, if your phone breaks to the point where it's unusable, gone are all your photos, music, contacts (do you know how many Facebook posts I see with people saying they lost their phone and need their contacts back?), and videos. Guess what would fix it? A microSD card.
Getting a new phone? Back everything up to the physical, cloud-less, ONE-TIME PAID-FOR microSD card. Get the phone, pop the microSD card out of the old phone, pop the microSD card into the new phone, boom; all your stuff is back. I don't see why phone companies don't give us that choice and they just forget it; like the IR blaster and headphone jack.
Dual sim offering should be a norm. People are trying to separate work and personal life. SD slot must be available in phone that have internal storage lower than 64gb, especially in the budget and midrange category. If a flagship have SD slot that is also highly appreciated. I think hybrid slot is just in between solution for now. Cant the slot be design to stack on top of another if they really want to save space? That is how it used to be in old phone; sim card on top of sd card. Maybe too thick? Nvm.
Hybrid sim slot is an easy solution for manufacturer in flagship. They can sell like one sim with microsd card in us and europe and dual sim hybrid slot in Asian market.
But i don't like hybrid sim slot in midrange and lower devices where memory is too small
