I think this is really cool but I'm not sure if I want vainilla Android for my Huawei... Do you guys recommend it?

Honestly I'm really happy with EMUI 8.0, I like it's features and Perks, but since Huawei is closing bootloader support I'm not sure.

Are some of your going to do this?

    Back in the Sony's days i root my phone and unlocked bootloader for some features. But with my huawei phone i dont feel the need to root it as EMUI got it all. However these are some reasons that i root phone last time;

    Obtain Greenify app, hibernating apps and improved battery life - Nowadays starting Android 7, there are already built in app to that, so Greenify not needed anymore.

    Uninstall bloatware - Nowadays flagship phone storage are decent enough without removing them and can be disabled if u dont want it to run in background.

    Install camera mod (back in sony days i use cyberian) - As huawei implement dual/triple camera, no other rom than stock EMUI that can triggered usage of the three sensors. Non stock custom rom always use only the rgb sensor.

    So yeah that is just some of it, makes my conclusion firm with using EMUI.

        Not interested with my Honor 9 as long as Honor provides updates, EMUI kicks ass.

          Huaweis EMUI is very fast and optmised for Kirin chips. Its just as fast as stock, and the general public prefer EMUI over broing stock. The minority here do not represent the majority...

              Anonymous, 24 Jun 2018You won t get features like ai, lockscreen features, secured vault and other huawei features.... moreSometimes it could be added back. But on the plus side, you'd get security updates and OS updates way after official support ends.
              Have you ever seen HTC HD2 or Samsung S2? They lived years after their support ended. HTC removed the device from its databases and I could still run android kitkat XD

                It's smooth, almost as stock, and the added functionality saves a ton of third party apps.
                Digging through EMUI (and some other custom UIs) settings takes more than half an hour, after which your phone becomes your friend :)

                      Why would they release this just to lock the bootloader not even a month later and lock everyone else out from doing this? Seems like a contradiction on their part and a waste of time to announce this when it'll be gone so soon

                            Dont wanna risk with FF . you can easily HARD BRICK your phone. I wouldn't recommend that. I tried FF when I was having P10 and it got a lot mixed up, i barely saved my phone. So i would rather wait for OTA.

                                Hopefully we will also see Honor 10 support. Only thing is, there will most liekly be some things missing from the original Rom, like AI camera or EIS? Hopfeully not. But it sucks big time, that Huawei is shutting down the Bootloader Unlocking, I dont want to be stuck with old security patches.
