I think this is really cool but I'm not sure if I want vainilla Android for my Huawei... Do you guys recommend it?
Honestly I'm really happy with EMUI 8.0, I like it's features and Perks, but since Huawei is closing bootloader support I'm not sure.
Are some of your going to do this?
Back in the Sony's days i root my phone and unlocked bootloader for some features. But with my huawei phone i dont feel the need to root it as EMUI got it all. However these are some reasons that i root phone last time;
Obtain Greenify app, hibernating apps and improved battery life - Nowadays starting Android 7, there are already built in app to that, so Greenify not needed anymore.
Uninstall bloatware - Nowadays flagship phone storage are decent enough without removing them and can be disabled if u dont want it to run in background.
Install camera mod (back in sony days i use cyberian) - As huawei implement dual/triple camera, no other rom than stock EMUI that can triggered usage of the three sensors. Non stock custom rom always use only the rgb sensor.
So yeah that is just some of it, makes my conclusion firm with using EMUI.
Nahhh, just relase the GPU update already... can't wait!
Huaweis EMUI is very fast and optmised for Kirin chips. Its just as fast as stock, and the general public prefer EMUI over broing stock. The minority here do not represent the majority...
Shanti Dope, 24 Jun 2018Oh look! The Mate 10 Lite and Honor 7x of August 2017 are already on Oreo with Project Treble ... moreyou can always mail xiaomi, they used to have one of the most responsive support.
Don't know about that now, though.
Anonymous, 24 Jun 2018You won t get features like ai, lockscreen features, secured vault and other huawei features.... moreSometimes it could be added back. But on the plus side, you'd get security updates and OS updates way after official support ends.
Have you ever seen HTC HD2 or Samsung S2? They lived years after their support ended. HTC removed the device from its databases and I could still run android kitkat XD
Anonymous, 24 Jun 2018Stock android is superb. Who cares about so many useless features and bloatware with laggy int... moreApparently you haven't tried EMUI :)
It's smooth, almost as stock, and the added functionality saves a ton of third party apps.
Digging through EMUI (and some other custom UIs) settings takes more than half an hour, after which your phone becomes your friend :)
Hockeybro13, 24 Jun 2018Why would they release this just to lock the bootloader not even a month later and lock everyo... more'They' here is not Huawei. They are OpenKirin team, just some nice people trying to help Huawei owner. They doing this because of that bootloader going to be locked.

Let s not be blind, owners would have bought a more vanilla device if it was for stock software
Why would they release this just to lock the bootloader not even a month later and lock everyone else out from doing this? Seems like a contradiction on their part and a waste of time to announce this when it'll be gone so soon
Stock android is superb. Who cares about so many useless features and bloatware with laggy interface? Personally I like Sony's interface it is very smooth. Nokia's and Motorola's interfaces are great too.
Geric.770, 24 Jun 2018But my Y7 Prime (2017) is already on May security update with minor bug fixes on camera app. ... moreWell my device was unlocked from some Hungarian network, so I get updates LAST ONE. Damn.....
PeterThePanda, 24 Jun 2018Have you tried clicking on the "Check for Updates" from time to time? I'm already on the May S... moreYes i do that every day duhh.......
Dont wanna risk with FF . you can easily HARD BRICK your phone. I wouldn't recommend that. I tried FF when I was having P10 and it got a lot mixed up, i barely saved my phone. So i would rather wait for OTA.
ZloiYuri, 24 Jun 2018You can call then whatever you want. Lineage and remix are heavily customized skins. Gestures,... moreThat is why I called them stock+, stock looks with more features like oxygenOS
Hopefully we will also see Honor 10 support. Only thing is, there will most liekly be some things missing from the original Rom, like AI camera or EIS? Hopfeully not. But it sucks big time, that Huawei is shutting down the Bootloader Unlocking, I dont want to be stuck with old security patches.
Trollhammeren, 24 Jun 2018one question : why !? Emui works perfectly .... ......and stock android sucks big time.
suarez92, 24 Jun 2018How about Face Unlock update for Mate 10 Pro ????
Nothing about that, Im stuck in MARCH SECUR... moreBut my Y7 Prime (2017) is already on May security update with minor bug fixes on camera app.
Hehe, even low end Huawei devices are updated. XD
Starting to make vanilla android available for their phones, but are soon to stop allowing their bootloaders to be unlocked. That makes sense
one question : why !?
Emui works perfectly ....
