I dont think that mobile phone chipset can ebat any of theses and i dont think it ever be. And even if that happens i dont think i will see some day a phone outruns Tianhe 2 the most powerfull computer ever made by humanity. http://www.datacenterdynamics.com/content-tracks/servers-storage/chinas-tianhe-2-remains-worlds-most-powerful-computer/83574.fullarticle

              And the present CPUs.

That's there console market is for, I still don't get people who really wants to play new games on low power PC, Console perfectly does that much better, you want portable gaming you have Switch(darksouls coming on it) you want home gaming experience with surround sound and massive screen, you have Xbox one x and ps4 pro, you want best graphics you have PC, there is no need to have low power devices running top PC games, there is no point for that

Competition never hurts. So Intel will be forced to produce better low power processors for portable devices, that is very good. Not sure about desktop PC's I mean mini PC configurations for schools or offices might be good chance to snub some market share from Intel, but Intel has more experience in there we will see

                        eGPU.. compatibility with eGPU.

Once you can use thunderbolt 3 box with something like GTX 1080 / 1070. VR .. AR.. anything is possible.

This will cause Intel to wake up seriously.. and put thunderbolt 3 support into their ATOMs Core Y and N. But by then.. its too late.

AnonD-731363, 24 Jun 2018Well so it means PC games are not build for mobile phones CPU. So it will never work. GTA ... moreIt's nothing to do with CPU. Adrenos are scalable but we didn't seen larger than four cluster one (the A540 on S835 is one of those for instance) the A630 on S845 is two cluster (& slightly faster than 8 gan iGP's) but I am certain it can scale up to at least four which would put it head to head against current AMD's APU offering. EGLS is striped down version of the EGL and goes only up to EGL(S) 3.1. Freedreno EGL is almost up to EGL 3.3. I don't know how good things stand with Direct X, probably not very good but luckily all of that doesn't drink much water with Vulkan which is API of the future (but rather slow coming one). It remains to be seen what S1000 will actually be. I would go with 6x A76 & two A55 along with at least doubled A630 GPU & if it fits in 12W max DTP and price is right it will be a huge thing. M$ Windows will be far from ironed up & ready to go but I am certain Linux will at the time of arrival.

The Snapdragon based chipsets would at best rival the Y-Series. SD835 on Windows was a joke. SD1000 might be a better option than the Y-Series. Hopefully they arrive on the 12-inch MacBook as well.
The U-Series is far more powerful and the 8550U/8650U is not that far behind the full powered 7700HQ, even with a third of the TDP. For gaming of course, the HQ processors are the only way to go.

I think MS should hard push the ARM .

With PWA even desktops will have great app-base . Its just time for dev to create arm, drivers for GPU etc ..

The next great step for ms could be if all games will be UWP so will run on arm , x86 and x64 . with ARM GPU drivers snapdragon could easy run these games with active cooling and at 3.5GHz or even higher with such a low TPD

On highest possible demands paired with 8GB internal plus 8 external. The load was a constant 100%, FPS count barely passed 3FPS. AND the lag was insane.
In compatible mode (FHD, low textures, etc) load were safer, K385S was still at 80%, but gold were at 42%. And FPS was a decent 45 FPS
