Even XZ2 beats S9+ and P20 Pro, based on that article alone. Reviewers have bashed Sony's camera for no reason or for a reason that isn't tolerable.

My Z3 and XZ2 are as good as new. So, I don't know what are you talking about. My XZ2 feels a lot better than Z3, thanks to that curved back glass that feels super amazing to touch.

sony has never got any profit from its mobile division, so.. better to shut it down and focus in camera/sensor development.

It looks more to classic-design of Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo (V) with Arc (S)'s from 7 years ago rather than HTC phone for me, due the same placement of the camera module, sensors and lens, as well curved back.

Any Sony flagship for example at ISO 1000 will do better than Samsung , LG and Motorola at 1000 too. It is not fair to compare one phone at ISO 300 agaist another at 1000 like all tests show, because Sony chooses high ISO over OIS.
So ppl think wrongly the post- processing is to blame.
Yes, imx400 and imx380-derivated are 1/2.3" like the sensor of Z3, XZ and Pixel 2016.
But the monochrome catches 3x more light than RGB, because there is no filter. It is like having 4 RGB sensors working together.
Huawei P9, P10 and P20 have same setup, but software based. XZ2P has hardware to do the task.

This strategy seems good I think. Bring enough hype for your product before its release and give away more and more information with time.
But this is the same strategy that makes unpatient people go somewhere else.
The price will be sky high i bet but it's a Sony so, it's worth it.

My Sony XZ is already on June 2018 security update with Android 8.0, my LG V20 is still on April 2017 security update with Android 7.0.
