So when they're made a new mid SoC with pure A75 core, and an Adreno 6** series?
So, they're too much with their low end SoC.
Leaving the mid - semi high end with few choices. 65* series was already old. Only 660 and 710. Also, the rumored 730.
Muthu, 27 Jun 2018While I agree with you that they are used way more than they should be, the actual problem is ... more5. Helio P20
6. Snapdragon 430
7. Snapdragon 435
8. Snapdragon 450
9. Snapdragon 625
10. Snapdragon 630
Better wait for sd 460 and 640. They will have 6xx adreno graphics.
AnonD-694886, 27 Jun 2018Finally Qualcomm is making a competitor to Mediatek Helio A22 and P22.Well there's 430,435,450,625,630,635 that was already exist. Mediatek is the one who made its competitor by creating Helio P series lol
Geric.770, 27 Jun 2018Oh yeah, I didn't know there is the 200 crappy series XDThey're usually used on wearable devices such as smartwatch, and the other IoT things. Also low end phones like the renewed Nokia 8110 also used SD205.
Muthu, 27 Jun 2018While I agree with you that they are used way more than they should be, the actual problem is ... moreWell, i actually want to ban all SoC that has no high performance core (A7* or equivalent) on >$200 phones lol
Anonymous, 27 Jun 20184 chipsets that must be banned due to over usage
Kirin ... moreYou mean the P20 and P10?
P30 aren't that often.
heck, even it's been 2 years old, P10, P20, SD625 (cough xiaomi) are still used lol.
Luxor, 27 Jun 2018Isnt 200 series only for smartwatch nowadays? The 400 series should start moving to smartwatch... moreNope. as far as I know only snapdragon 400 is used in smartwatches. being renamed to Snapdragon wear 2100 afaik. 200 is still an option for extremely low end phones.
sd630 has adreno 508 which is better gpu then 506 on sd632 ( same gpu on 2.5 years old sd625 )
WHY Qualcomm WHY?
Qualcomm is doing in SoCs what Sammy/Xiaomi/Huawei etc are doing in phones. Launching new products in the same segment every now and then.
The fact that they still use A53 on chips announced in mid 2018 when A55 has been there for over a year is so disappointing.
I know Snapdragon will againts the Mediatek P22 and A22 with 12nm SoC.
This is backwards. They have a 636 and a rumored 10nm 640. This is a backwards move
Kiyasuriin, 27 Jun 2018Why? Which chipsets the lowend would use then? I'd ban the 200 series instead. The 200 series is not the problem, all the series (200 400 600 700 800 1000) have their use-cases. The problem is the 28nm Fab process and ARMv7 which desperately needs updating.
If Qualcomm release a new member of the 200 series using 14nm Fab and ARMv8 it would be acceptable.
Nokiax, 27 Jun 2018GsmArena guy's wake up. Now day's You are updating articles too late. I know. I have veen telling this since a long time. GSMArena team doesn't pay any attention.
Kiyasuriin, 27 Jun 2018Why? Which chipsets the lowend would use then? I'd ban the 200 series instead.Isnt 200 series only for smartwatch nowadays? The 400 series should start moving to smartwatch. The lower of 600 series should move to entry level and budget phone. Well, I would ban all the old fab process of course. Hahaha.
SD429 and SD439 fit in with current direction SoC is heading, considering the Fab process used along with CPU GPU DSP and Modems.
SD632 should have been named SD629, looking through the chart available here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Qualcomm_Snapdragon_systems-on-chip and comparing with SD625 SD626 SD630 SD636 SD660 makes this point standout.
SD632 is a downgrade from SD630 in GPU DSP Memory Modem and WiFi speed.
