Where is that 1/1.7 inch sensor they were working on?
And recent sensors show that could be better than it sounds already even at 24mp. So come on. Combine this with that. Give us a good camera.
But instead it's all focused on getting thinner.

Whackcar, 27 Jun 2018ISOCELL is trash. There's a reason why literally everyone uses EXMOR RS sensors. :DNo. The only trash between, exmor, imx, and isocell is you thinking you know anything.

0.8 micron? I for one will not be buying a phone with such tiny pixel size ever.
1.4 micron is for me the current de facto minimum, seeing how many devices, mostly flagships, have been using those 12MP 1/2.5" sensor.
Please put this new tech into sensors with 1.55 micron size or larger, then we will actually see significant IQ improvements.
1/2.3" or 1/2" sensor size, pretty please?

Whackcar, 27 Jun 2018ISOCELL is trash. There's a reason why literally everyone uses EXMOR RS sensors. :DNo, literally everyone uses Sony IMX sensors. Exmor RS is meant for that recent Xperia XZ Premium phone and that alone.

Anonymous, 27 Jun 2018"Without losing performance". What bollocks! I am pretty sure an 0.8 pixel will lose performa... moreLike the other person said. To some degree the cpu/gpus at this point have. But not every time and not as much as claimed.
And agreed. At 0.8um and smaller there will definitely be a degrade in quality in some form or another. They can claim otherwise all they want. And even if there wasn't or it was minimal... Then still use the normal size or larger and give us a camera worthy of the title and price tag

"Without losing performance". What bollocks!
I am pretty sure an 0.8 pixel will lose performance against bigger ones. Manufacturer are always lying. It it the same way improved efficiency/battery life is always being promised with a new release of CPUs, GPUs, camera sensor, etc.
