Even though I'm a Sony fan, the price is kinda spicy. But this is ONLY if you want the phone NOW or in the next let's say 3-4 months.
What do you expect? For it to battle with the phones from the link below, but cost half or it? This in terms of hardware, software, updates, quality build, features etc? (Phones without the SD card slot are out of the question, so sushh)

I don't know from what part of the world you are, but in today's world, you have to be the competition "at least", in order to survive, not to mention succeed.
Just wait a few months like every normal person does and buy it then, when you might strike a deal somewhere. Specially if you're in the US or Canada.

I will pay 1000 usd only for Sony not for iPhone and Samsung. But if I want cheaper phone I will buy any Motorola or Nokia instead of Samsung.

The XZ2 competes with the regular 5.8" S9 at best. 4GB RAM (the XZ2 6GB version is only for selected market and not available at launch), single cam, 5.7" - 5.8" 18.9 display, wireless charging, 3000 - 3150 mAh battery, etc

Do you even read what I typed? It seems you dont understand the first time. I said : "Just because the price is equivalent of another smartphone, doesn't mean it's directly against that particular smartphone" and "And judging by the specs, the XZ2 Premium is competing directly with the S9+, Pixel 2 XL, LG G7, OnePlus 6 and more". The XZ2 is directly against the Galaxy S9 (regular version) at best.

Just because the price is equivalent of another smartphone, doesn't mean it's directly against that particular smartphone. For example, the OnePlus 6 ($579) and the OPPO Find X ($700) is competing directly with the likes of the S9+, ($829) iPhone X ($999), Pixel 2 XL ($900) and the likes. It's not competing with smartphone with its similar price (eg Galaxy A8+, iPhone 7 etc). And judging by the specs, the XZ2 Premium is competing directly with the S9+, Pixel 2 XL, LG G7, OnePlus 6 and more

Sony are always priced higher in the US, maybe it'll be cheaper in other places.
850-900€ would be a reasonable price in my opinion.

Mmmm. we'll have to see. Specsheet wise, it has something more up its sleeves compared to apple's thousand dollar X. OLED, 4k panel, expandable storage. so we'll have to see how the brand new camera set up fares in the competition. It has to match the spectacular setup.

hahahahahahaha lmao what did they smoke in the sony office, who in the world pay 1000 bucks for a sony phone, i had their last xz premium and that thing retailed for 850 bucks and geuss what nodoby bought that besides me (i got it for 600 bucks). Are they really thinking they can request these kind of prices? Smartphone prices are getting out of hand as of late.

Many other flagship already have this feature , and their smartphones are priced much lower! For example, the Galaxy S9+ 64GB is priced at $829, $879 for the 128GB version and $929 for the 256GB version! And the Galaxy S9+ is already considered to be overpriced by many people.
Face it, the XZ2 Premium $1000 price tag is VERY overpriced!

For all those who are whinging about the price.
It's the only phone other than its predecessor to have a 4K HDR screen, which adds a premium price tag. Plus, this screen requires a new manufacturing process.
New camera components along with the AUBE fusion chip which processes the dual camera image setup.
Corning's 3D Gorilla glass is also new and expensive to produce, they've practically monopolised the market. - Also allows for wireless charging.
Qualcomms Snapdragon845 chip is not cheap, hence the price increases for each iteration of One Plus' models.
