Urbexx, 01 Jul 2018for being an slider, you have to sacrifice dust and water resist, that's right? We all used to use phones without any water/dust resistance up until 2016. (or 2013 if you're a Sony user). So why all of a sudden we can't survive with a phone without IP67/IP68 certification? IP53 (Rain resistance) is all one should need realistically...
Sliders and notch are both a hassle. Just bring back bezels, life was much better with bezels.. well everything has it's days.
The people voting against sliders makes me lose faith in humanity. I mean would you rather have the fugly freetarded notch rather than the much more pleasant slider camera?
Moving parts.
Camera popping up when not wanted, and getting broken in pocket, or causing phone to stick inside pocket or holder.
No thanks.
I'm sure some day someone will find a way to put a piece of glass that is transparent in one area when the camera is on and have the screen cover the camera when not in use....like this technology for TV's http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-3822108/Panasonic-reveals-invisible-TV-Prototype-OLED-screen-turns-transparent-glass-not-use.html
According to Vivo the camera can elevate and retract up to 50,000 times, and what happens after that?
Brandstifter, 01 Jul 2018It is very hard to give a slider phone some water protection. And phones without water protect... moreI concur. While I appreciate having waterproofing on my S7 Edge, it wouldn't have been a deal-breaker if it didn't have one. I'm not stupid enough to put my phone underwater or under a running faucet. Sure, it helps if u drop it in a pool of water but so does being careful in the first place. We actually need phones which have shatterproof screens more than waterproofing.
Sliders allow us to *not* have a notch. While I'm not against notches, copying notch for the sake of trend and no good reason (like iPhone X) is stupid. If u are gonna put notch then make it useful, not cosmetic.
It may be true that the mechanism doesn't work as great with the passage of time but, *that* is how we improve on it. Phones cameras were crappy in the beginning. If we had given up on 'em then we might never have gotten current top smartphone cameras. Give it time. Within a year or two, if the trends catches up, I believe it will be vastly improved imo.
I don’t see them being very sturdy. I don’t see a possibility of using a cover to protect the phone. So why even bother? Covers are a must! For any phone.
BiyoBiyo JunJun, 01 Jul 2018hey , lets take a photo sorry , my camera stuck .....WD-40.
I would go with notch anyday over moving parts. Nubia's approach (dual screen) is the best among all to get max stb ratio.

Nazi, 01 Jul 2018*it would *don't beThank you for your correction. You're such a keen guy.
Honestly,
Sliders are cool but they are more trouble than they are worth, if you understand me

Wouldn't mind if it was true edge to edge display.. or like apples iphone x on the bottom.. with the small bottom bezel... and not this..
If they are properly sealed against dust and water splashes, Nex-like cameras might flood the market. But I don't see the FindX solution going anywhere: awkward cases, slow deployment, and a hassle to fix a subunit.
Anonymous, 01 Jul 2018Yeah, Apple is gonna copy it regardless and call it 'innovation' ,the coming of Odin to the ea... moreonly android user call it innovation like apple invent it while apple call it innovation compare to their old iphone
