Interesting that MS seems to have as much going on in the "patent wars" as Apple, but they don't cop as much flack for it. Maybe it's because Apple's suing over stupid patents - or maybe Apple's excellent marketing is backfiring. In any case, WP7 was only launched in October 2010 and generally, it's already seen as better competition against iOS than Android. Here's hoping more manufacturers decide to make a deal with MS to help WP7 become the competition that iOS needs!

Now I know one of the reasons why Nokia joined with Microsoft. Nokia dont need to pay Royalties to microsoft, they got a giant company backing them up so they wont get sued. Instead of talking shit and speculating that Nokia did a bad move, you should really think that Nokia knows something that is not out in the public. Maybe Nokia has seen what Microsoft has planned out and they think it will be the future of tech in phones and in tablets. Its already happening slowly, Microsoft making more innovations and Android and Apple are now slowing down on updates with there OS. Apple just copying Android and now Android is only updating minor bug fixes and nothing big happening. Microsoft is the new THING wether u fan boys like it or not. BTW im not fan boy of any OS. Im using IOS ipod touch 4 and Android Xperia Arc.

Ashura, the guy is right, you are wrong. WP and iOS are the furure for high-end devices. Android will stay, but for mid and low-range devices. It will be just too unstable, too insecure and too expensive, when all tha patents are fixed. By the way, have you tried Android? I have for about 8 months and will never use such joke again.

Wow!
I know Apple also came into a settlement with Nokia ages ago. That is fine with me. I still love Nokia even if I switch to Samsung. I just can't wait for them to escape Microsuckft's grip in 5 years and welcome to Android!
But look at EVIL greedy Microsuckft! Its the complete opposite of the freedom Google is trying to give the Asian companies! Trying to put its feet on every Android OEM imaginable.
But I don't blame them for these dirty tactics because its the only way they know to stay alive and relative. They know if they don't stop Android growth. Their huge enterprise empire will be finished in no time!
But it is inevitable that Google will eat on their PC market as well. Google is working round the clock to complete their hardware technology on the cutting edge so the OEMs wont have to pay a single cent to any patent holder like Microsucft!

They abuse their search monopoly and they should be brought down hard. It's really great that Samsung is now paying MS for every Android handset they sell and soon, Moto/Google themselves will be paying MS as well.
MS and Apple should tag team these OEMs and sue them for multitouch patents and make Android too expensive for the OEMs to use.
Windows 8 is so much like WP and I predict Android's decline when Windows 8 and WP gains tremendous traction next year.
