To be honest, I don't think the Huawei P20 pro is so special that it's high up on this list (although obviously the public disagrees with me), but hear me out.
The camera, subjectively, is 5 to 10 percent better than the next best phone, something like the Galaxy S9+. But, it seems like Huawei compromised on every other aspect of the phone to deliver the best camera.
For example, the chipset, the Kirin 970, is outdated compared to all of the 2018 flagships. The screen, while beautiful, is notched and only 1080p. The design has both a chin and that notch (why????).
The battery is rated at 4000mah, but doesn't provide much over the measly 3500 of the S9+ in terms of video watching and overall endurance, even in spite of its 1080p vs 1440p screen.
The software, subjectively, is too heavily skinned, and is locked down. This is a far cry from stock Android, and still heavy and locked down compared to skins like OxygenOS, LG UX, or even MIUI.
Finally, the price. It is about $900 or so, but the features and experience (minus the camera) seems more fitting of a 550 dollar phone like the OnePlus 6. For photography pros, this is a good phone, but for me, I'd save my money and buy something more well rounded.

Looking at the history of samesung and how they started to go up and comparing it with the new knockoffers (xiaomi, huawai,oppo and whatever other) their is zero to no difference. The only difference is: samesung were the first to knockoff everything they could. Now they have enough money to not to this so often. That's about it.

Yes a very good year for Nokia. Good job HMD global Nokia 6.1 and 7 plus are great value for money, basically two affordable nexus phones with great build quality and a great unbeatable price.

Other than sliding the camera and fingerprint scanners around, how do you tell them all apart?
There hasn't been any real innovation in Android phone design in the last 3 years. All glass slabs, same hardware specs basically running same speeds. Only real difference might be their color.
Apple does their minimal iteration upgrades. Only real design changers has been Blackberry bringing back the physical keyboards with their Key series.
