I thought it was only because of the sensor, it's too small lol
That's why i hate tonal noise reduction and auto-sharpening image... i only prefer sharpen image selectively by manual edit and color noise reduction.

As for the aggresive overprocessed image on smartphone nowadays, i really hope they put the sharpness to natural, just add some sharpness around the edges, kind of like what X-Reality technology on Sony's TV. With that, no artifacts will present even after noise reduction added.
Another day another OnePlus issue. Can't have enough.

All phones with high resolution sensors do this..
That is why Apple followers use 12MP too...
