HTC is doomed, their phones offers little of competition for atrocious prices for many years, no wonder they are dying
lol, everytime i got hype on a HTC's phone, then they slap me by very poorrrrrr battery.
I can live without headphone jack, can live with LCD .... but not bad battery.
What is the point of a good spec but can't not live long -> a dead king?
Anonymous, 03 Jul 2018The HTC One M8 was my first flagship. If HTC would go back to that design while increasing the... moreHTC One m7 for me, but HTC 10 design was great too.
The problem with HTC is a hit and miss in most lucrative markets. I'm have a Samsung Note 3, for which I've been trying to find a worthy upgrade for the past two years.
HTC 10 would have been it, if only they made one in "Max" size. HTC 10 Evo almost hit the spot, only they introduced it with a year-and-a-half old hardware at the point of release.
And it's the same thing year into year with HTC - I would have bought the U11+, but it's not sold in USA for no apparent reason.
I would have bought the U12+, but now they've screwed up a perfectly good thing with touch sensitive buttons. And reviews are less than stellar for button responsiveness.
This trend has been the case with HTC for a long while now.
The HTC One M8 was my first flagship. If HTC would go back to that design while increasing the screen size, beefing up the battery, and keeping the headphone jack, it would've been a hit. At this point, instead of a Pizel mini, they should just make midrange phones with SnapDragon 710 for Google and global if they want to stay afloat.
Finaly some good news to hear.
This company had its own issues for a very long time struggling from one disaster to another its good they will go into the history books.
Noone and nothing can save them now.
Those poeple who will loose their jobs i am sorry for them but HTC CEO were always bad they can start dismissing here :-).
Struggling from ages but never came up with something new that can help HTC to get back their lost market share. They are themselves to blame. The only interesting side from HTC was their sense UI but it is now more than stock UI.
Manhurt, 03 Jul 2018Like I said before, HTC must learn from ASUS while ASUS its growing on Smartphone global markets.Asus's phone division is full of ex-HTC employees...
2000 HTC employees transferred to Google few months ago, and now another 1500 made redundant. Who left to look after software updates of existing devices, which are already suffering big time.
HTC you are not alone with your over priced no headphone jack phones! Coff Sony. LG probably will be soon also. You guys need to innovate like you did almost a decade ago. HTC diamond, LG Viewty, Sonyericsson K850 or W950! Those were the good days! I will never buy a phone without a headphone jack especially if i'm paying £600+ You mad!
Anonymous, 03 Jul 2018Next Samsung = Huawei Next Big Company = Xiaomi Next Dropper = Samsung Companies that are... moreYou're delusional if you think LG and Sony will die. They're much more than phone companies
AnonD-1825, 02 Jul 2018All the big old Android phone companies will slowly die because of those chinese companies.Htc and Sony only have themselves to blame. Their phones are heavily overpriced. Samsung might weather the storm as they are the only ones offering Ammoled screens in the budget segment and they have their own chipset manufacturing to keep costs down.
Other than that I feel companies like Huawei and Xiaomi will get rid of Sony HTC and LG in the next few years. Nokia might survive due to brand name.
Dont worry HTC, Sony Mobile gonna follow you soon so you wont be alone.
I hope HTC will learn a lesson now.
I'm totally disappointed on their latest U12+. Very weak build quality, weakest battery life on 2018 flagships, and the removal of 3.5 headphone jack. Why do they just focus on VR products rather than the smartphone division?
Salah, 03 Jul 2018WTF!? Following Samsung? Yeah, sure HTC follows Samsung when it removes Headphone Jack, stick... moreWhat do you mean, they never left stereo speakers?
Anonymous, 03 Jul 2018Next Samsung = Huawei
Next Big Company = Xiaomi
Next Dropper = Samsung
Companies that are... moreNext Samsung is Huawei? You deluded?
Still offering ''flagships'' with 1080p resolution and No Optical Image Stabilization and No Headphone Jack and NO expandable memory and No proper IP rating and NO proper Gorilla Glass and NO Top-Tier Processor?
Are you serious?
Next Samsung = Huawei
Next Big Company = Xiaomi
Next Dropper = Samsung
Companies that are going to die = LG, HTC, Sony
They need to cut those who decided to remove 3.5 mm jack and switch from all metal to cheesy looking shiny design.
Nevertheless, if HTC want to survive it better adapt a new business module. Try the likes of Xiaomi or Huawei for instance. Maybe a bit of Meizu. HTC is already well established brand. They can scrapped out marketing budget. No need for it. Simply doing online sales is enough like Xiaomi has done in the past. No need promotion or showcase event. Just a quiet release like Meizu also works.
HTC phone itself dont really need to be innovative at time like this - too much struggle and we can see it. Simply go for what trendy and what is needed is enough. Simple like Huawei and Xiaomi phones. No need nonsense innovation. No need special material. Dont try to stand out. Forget the signature stereo speaker. Simple specs is best. Dont even try to be like Oppo or Vivo. And also please, HTC, you are no longer the same level as Apple or Samsung either. Price your phone wisely.
In best cases maybe they can restructure to survive like Nokia. Adopt the Android One from Google. Making simple devices with stock android running on a brand like HTC sounds far better than what ridiculousity they doing now isnt it. From what Im seeing now their fate is going the Microsoft way back in old Nokia era. Many jobs cut. HTC current fate kinda similar to Blackberry. Not doing so well but still breathing.
