why can't they eny other company continue runing the simbyan platform for the sek of other simbyan wich are out there.
Nokia did the right thing but leaving a huge numbers of workers unemployed is not the right thing and believe it or not when you send them off by closing the romania factory give them the advantage of using other brands against nokia in the next furture.so, what i am suggeting is for nokia to transfer her workers to others main factories n they should cut the way the mke inquality mobile phone wich doesn't agree to customers.
The factory will be closed in march 2012. The reason of closing is not the Aple or Samsung or any othet bullshit. In that factory they made only Nokia 1208 and other cheap models. Not smartphones or high-end terminals. The reason is the medium earnings diference between Romania and China (where the factory will be move out). euro 250/mounth in Romania up against only US Dollars 80/mounth in China
The Nokia factory at Jucu produced only low-end symbian phones! Nokia said that these type of phones are no longer in demand in Europe and they will relocate in Asia! Nokia won't help eny of it's workers get new jobs! It will only pay them 3 compensatory wages! When the factory in Germany closed down, they payed 12 wages to each worker! Nokia made huge profits in Romania while the workers only received wages of 150-200€! Now after filling their bag Nokia is leaving! This story, unfortunaly will happend again in some other countryes!
Cluj guy is right, Nokia as well as other big companies just came to Romania to pay peanut sallaries, how would you live with 200 euro sallary? such an amount is also offered by other companies that outsource here, it's a crying shame because we work hard for that money and it's still not enough to live with such a small pay
AnonD-1082, 29 Sep 2011Nokia will make a grand comeback with their Sea Ray WP Mango device. It will turn the tide in ... moreYou call losing sales figures and market shares a "vacation"? Looks more like a permanent retirement if Nokia doesn't do anything to dazzle consumers.
[deleted post]just like any other company.they dont care about you, they care about money

More and more Nokia employee... moreWhat the article didn't mention is that Nokia will be opening up a new plant in Vietnam next year. The article was biased and was written by GSMArena's Android fanboy writer. Nokia is just doing what is right and it's like outsourcing and this move will save them a lot of money in the long run.
The mods here are also biased against Nokia and they didn't delete the trolling posts even after having them reported. For them, It's okay to troll Apple and Nokia articles but they will delete and ban you if you post anything against Android.
Pinoy Ako, 30 Sep 2011It's not a temporary setback. It's the continuous slump of Nokia. More and more Nokia employee... moreThere is lot more here than simply Nokia doing badly. Nokia is in the middle of strategy change. Most of Europe works with laws where its nearly impossible to fire people when you are doing well.
The main idea is to move romanian factory to Asia, have you seen Samsung opening new factories in Europe?
Besides what we have seen from Android and WP7, Nokia just positioned themselves beautifully. Samsung paying 15$ for each Android device to Microsoft changes a LOT.
Nokia cannot fool people all the time. Now they are trying to catch the sympathy of the people by showing unemployment.Very Impressive.
Do you think people are lost enough to buy your useless gadgets for such high prices without having anything in it.Nokia those days are gone now people are mind set to destroy you and bury you.NOKIA REST IN PEACE.
AnonD-11222, 29 Sep 2011Google is Rich but not reach enough to buy a giant like NokiaNokia is like a cookie. And now it's crumbling. Crumbling to pieces and getting trampled!

Poor Romanians. Next, the rest of the world.
I agree. Nokia is already dead. It's just that it's now in the process of being burned in Hell. No more tomorrow for Nokia. No more sunshines to be seen for this company.
Cod3rror, 29 Sep 2011Nokia going down and who cares? They've screwed over their fans for years! You should be th... moreI have a Nokia N8 as my main phone but recently had to lend it to my Dad and so went back to using my N86 8MP. I love it. The size and shape are great. The physicality of the phone (slider, glass screen, metallic buttons) is very engaging. It is only let down by the UI which works well enough but just is not engaging. You may say iPhone has saved us from later versions of the N95 but for me, I wish Nokia would release a 12MP N86 successor. They have phones with that form factor in the line up already but they have underdone cameras and lenses (no Carl Zeiss) and it looks like "camera phone" means "big touchscreen" even though the size and form of the N86 is far more comfortable for taking pictures. So, I say, thanks to the iPhone for shaking up the industry, but no thanks for killing off individuality in phone design.
sad actually, i ve had many nokia phones but no longer interested in these devices, too far behind even with the N9..they are going down if they wont come up with some dazzling windows phone, cuz htc won t back down..
anyway closing factory in ro was obviously needed..if they want to save themselves..
