Such a tablet (with a 10.5"+ screen) should be used in the horizontal orientation, not vertical. But it looks like it was made for vertical, which was a poor decision.

What is the purpose of a 10 inch 4:3 tablet if you have 2 huge black bars on top and bottom. Even a 7-8 inch 16:9 tablet looks better.
Yes, 4:3 is better than 16:10 for READING on a smaller tablet. But 16:10 on a 10 inch tablet is brilliant for media consumption, it's very good for reading and excellent for getting things done.
I'm glad Samsung chooses to be different than Apple when it comes to tablets. This will help sell more than it would if it was similar to an ipad.

Finally, Samsung getting back on track since the original Tab S, with the proper 16:10 awesome display! I have been waiting since then (4 years ago!) to upgrade, avoiding the i-clones, with the annoyingly squarish 4:3 ratio!

There are tons of professionals who are willing to fork up for Macs. Its one of the most versatile OS for developers and programmers, able to run all known IDEs and because of Intel, its capable of running all x86 OS, Windows, androids, Linux, whatever.
Here are the bad BAD choice they made:
1. They did not update Mac Pro.. and decided to drop the iMac Pro instead.
2. They DESTROYED the keyboard on MBP / MacBooks.
3. They TWICE update the MBP in a short time.
4. The budget Mac mini was not touch for ages.. and still the same BAD price.
5. On the OS itself.. introduces kiddy features.. like full screen mode / Split screen mode / and make it unstable as shit. (I NEVER DID ONCE REBOOTED in the era of snow leopard.. Now its a daily occurrence)
6. They NUKE the Xcode for 5GB download every year.. and tweak basic linux commands.. so you need to hunt for fixes every damn year.
7. Apple display down the drain..
Mac is like what Samsung did here for the Tab S series. No top of the line processors, same insane price.. limited choice.

Another possibility is that, if the prices are too high no one would buy the tablets. To keep the costs they might have decided to go with last-gen chip. It is still perfectly capable of doing everything. I don't understand why you are complaining so much about it. No need to act all elitist, like you need all the best stuff. Not everyone has that kind of money. I wouldn't want to spend more than 600$ for a tablet.

I do have (had, rather, my husband uses it for his AR stuff) a macbook. It's cool and compared to the cage iOS you're using a surprisingly open OS, but I didn't like the experience of mac, so I simply switched to Windows.

One theory is that maybe in long term it is not cost effective to use sd845 in a dying tablet market. Supplies must meet demand. Another theory, they probably already have a contract with Qualcomm stating the amount of sd845 they can use in their flagship phone. No more chipset hoarding. Also there simply not enough production of the sd845 for the tablets market.

So, they try to sell the iPad as the new PC. The only thing they're achieving is killing the Mac even faster.
