Other than Project Treble, I think this is also one of the main reasons why many OEMs chose to release phones with Nougat when Oreo is already out for a while.

Probably with GCam the quality will be stellar but the problem is that Xiaomi doesn't even enable camera2 Api by default. We have to do all the work to enable it and then install GCam.

Since this phone is the same as Mi 6X it should have similar camera performance shouldnt it? Not sure why xiaomi camera always take dull looking picture. Is it not color accurate or just lacking that punchy color.

As usual xiaomi skimps out on the camera, software Updates [ Android Version Updates and Security Patches ] and build quality for reduction of price.
But people don't understand it and think they are getting value for money , As the saying goes you always get what you pay for.

I too o... moreYou can't compare a Samsung camera to anyone else.Samsung is the camera leader over the entire price range from top end to lower mid-range.Only the Huawei p20 pro is an exception.

Not that great! I think it's the first time any company has shared a realistic picture without any editing, cz whenever a camera sample is shared it starts appearing as if yeah this is the best camera phone I've ever seen!

Yuck, that forest, it should be captured by another 1/2.9" IMX486 camera again... small sensor, bad detail.
