Imo this wont work... we'll need humans to converse with humans... a digital assistant, however intelligent, cant repalce a human... it may work in select businesses but certainly not in all...
I am pretty old and see a lot of technology through the years and Google Duplex is one of the most impressive things I have seen.
I can't wait until they launch it. Here it will start beta later this summer. I hate calling people and making appointments and it will be perfect for my needs.
Think it is going to be super popular. Looks like Google did it again with something that nobody else seems to be able to do.
My favorite Google service right now is YouTube TV but this might replace it. Before YouTube TV it was Google photos.

You can tell Google are staffed by people too young to include ethics and compassion in their personas. Why do we need this? Why not put calls to REAL people at the companies, for banter and humanity? I am in tech, but have NO interest in using such a service as Duplex or having my own IT company use it. My staff will answer the phone thank you, in the language of the host nation, no call centres, no AI, just humans.
This is very confusing article... I would even say in in false... Google duplex gained publicity by natural dialog and speech realization, but public Google services do not offer the quality demonstrated in Google duplex(TTS,Dialog). Another problem is that call center dialogs are quite different. If Google says that he is not testing/helping partners to test unpublished services, then there is not another Google duplex. Also Google duplex was published only as audio recording, probably acted before getting the best shot.
Here in India, most call executives are absolutely uninformative, I won't feel sorry for people who will lose their job because of this.

Should implement this Google Duplex on everything from trading to banking and even hotel business and food business. AI employees sounds much better than the rude human we barely able to deal with without screaming at each other faces whenever something is not to our satisfaction.

But come on have you ever called an overseas delocalized call center? It sounds like a mall on Black Friday. Addition that to their very low-speed VoIP system and you get the worst and most accurate recreation of a call center.
