Windows Defender fairs poorly compared to many commercial products though of course you wouldn’t know if you’re infected and leaking personal data if your AV is not up to the scratch of detecting it.

I haven't see all those problems since Windows Vista. You should check the current state of how Windows is working now.

I haven't used any pc or Microsoft program for 10 years and my life is a lot more simple and easy. No blue screens of death, running antivirus in the background, installing and reinstalling corrupt drivers and having to deal with geeky worded notifications on daily basis.

Apple isn't selling... moreIf you are talking about OS's then people should turn to Linux. All OS's from the giants (which operate for their profit and sometimes suspiciously) don't offer you privacy. The giants know that a lot of us customers are dumb, so they will try to operate with different methods to just rip us off from a view of privacy, hardware, software, whatever. Yes, good alternatives exist. But not everyone can know it all.

There are plenty others, very few of their big products seems to have gone through proper Q&A (for secrecy, I assume?). You're right about them selling the most expensive products, which is the scam part. :)
Funny that you're okay with Apple ads just because they rebranded it away from iAds, but not okay with Microsoft ads?

I am a neutral Apple user and I really like this machine. Seems like you get a fully-fledged Surface, which is just weaker than the other surfaces, at a really low price.

Apple is selling more expensive products, and sometimes employ greedy practices, because they only make money through hardware rather than ad networks.

Google make money via ads, meaning you are the product when you buy a product from them, but they still have their platform open source and free to modify.

Microsoft on the other hand is selling expensive hardware AND invade your privacy to take your data for their ad network. They're double-tapping already. And now they also force their customers to pay extra for being able to use the hardware they bought. They are the worst of them all.
