Sony skipped QHD ( except one tablet) because no media content is recorded 1440p. It is 4K or Full HD.
In many locations great 4K screens are expensive, the price of a flagship here is enough to buy a TV from 3 years ago.
Also a 4K phone allows you to watch you 4K vids right there , after you recorded.

But camera in XZ2 premium indeeds looks very good, i love Sony finally make it right this time. Seems like the monochrome sensor started by Huawei to improve low lights its really an innovation and now Sony make it better with their own dedicated Aube chipset.
This is a smartphone, means to be a portable device. U cant put a very large camera sensor to it and call it portable. Technology is fast, the way they do it now (put many sensors to improve camera) is the way to go to achieve some of the DSLR camera features.

Actually I have no camera app on my phones. It's been
long deleted with the rest of the bloatware :)

Tt was hilarious to see how fanboys had been saying that 2K AMOLED display on Galaxy S6 was a useless gimmick in the beginning of 2016, but 6 months later they were forced to flip their opinion 180 degrees as Sony announced Z5 Premium and suddenly started brag how great its 4K display(which run in 1080p 90% of the time) is and how it is the best in the industry or some random crap.

Disbelievers already have a good number of video and photo samp... moreI've seen all the night time sample images from XZ2 Premium and while, as expected, P20 Pro was still ahead 90% of the time(though in a few occasions it was better in details) due to larger sensor, at the same time in many scenes it beat S9+! And considering how hard flagship Xperia smartphones have been stumbling in low light, this is phenomenal accomplishment by Sony Mobile. Furthermore low light 1080p30 video performance is easily the best out there like literally there is no contest. Probably Huawei can take a cue from Sony and improve their ISP so that it can merge images from color and B&W sensors in video(like AUBE Engine) for their next Mate or P series smartphone... they have always been good at the handling different type of sensors.
I'm glad that companies are finally starting to notice the true benefit of B&W sensor, it is so far the best and only way to take the smartphone low light photography to the next level. Sony easily could've fit larger sensors in XZ2P and OIS given how thick it is, though.

Anonymous, 12 Jul 2018everyone here thinks he's a pro in video and photo sh*t, but 99% of you are just talking nonse... moreI've seen a lot of sample images and found it only slightly below P20 Pro, and that's not surprising given its larger sensor and superior processing algorithms, and sometimes it's even better than both S9 and P20P. In 1080p30 video the footage seems to be a lot nicer thanks to the real time image fusion technology, but we have yet to see its performance in 4K where image fusion is said to become disabled.

Ois and an improved aperture would yield ... moreISO 12800 on XZ2P wouldn't be as noisy as something like 3200 on Galaxy S9 because each frame is a combination of images from 2 sensors, one of which is a B&W sensor. Wider aperture on a main sensor also would do more harm than good in this case since it would soften the image and introduce much more prominent corner distortion. However, I agree that it would've been nicer if it had OIS... Some say that EIS works better than OIS, but that's completely false: combination of OIS and EIS will be always superior to a solution that only relies on either OIS or EIS. Pixel 2 employs both for video stabilisation and the results are phenomenal as everyone agrees.

And having ... moreMulti frame stacking doesn't work on video because of limited shutter speed for each frame and the fact that video is much more processor intensive than taking photos. Higher ISO increases exposure and noise, that's about it: It doesn't bring more clarity out of the footage.
