There is no aperture control on any of Huawei phones. The lens is fixed on F1.8 on P20 Pro and P10 Plus, and F1.6 on Mate 10 Pro.

"no difference actually, if you use pro mode and know what you are doing"
I know what I'm saying because I've tried P20 Pro numerous times. HDR and multi-frame stacking are disabled on manual mode, but other than that, if you turn AI off, there's no difference between auto and manual mode unless you're shooting in RAW which alters the image processing of the jpeg image completely.

"i had the p10 +"
"and the p10 + is still to expensive for me to want to buy."
So you had P10 Plus even though it is still too expensive for you to buy one? Man, I can tell you haven't used any of Huawei devices before(if you have, then you must have no idea what you're talking about), but honestly can you start making sense already?

Nick Tagataka, 17 Jul 2018Unlike the one on Mate 10 series, Master AI on P20 and P20 Pro can be completely turned off. T... moreno difference actually, if you use pro mode and know what you are doing. and if you use the same settings in pro mode that the ai on/semi-off settings standard mode uses, you also get a lot better results. even on the jpg picture. and for low light, then try to let the aperture control the light, not the iso. then you will notice the big diffence on ai fully off and ai semi off. i had the p10 +, the mate 10 pro and the p20 pro. now i have the nokia 8110 while waiting for the asus rog to be released. the ai ruined my joy of huawei. and the p10 + is still to expensive for me to want to buy.

Zenodroid, 14 Jul 2018Then why is details screwed up, colors not correct and sharpness out of order? Because of the ... moreUnlike the one on Mate 10 series, Master AI on P20 and P20 Pro can be completely turned off. The only difference between auto with AI turned off and the manual mode is that both HDR and multi-frame stacking are disabled in manual mode, nothing more.
The exception is when you're enabling RAW image capturing, in this case instead of shooting a native 10MP image, the phone takes 40MP image, processes it and then downsample it into 10MP resolution in manual mode. An image produced in this way shows finer details but exhibits strong color noise and purple fringing, and the whole image is a LOT softer(so basically unusable in low light). The dynamic range is also often worse due to HDR not being used. This difference is not caused by the AI or automatic scene detection, it's just how phone is altering the image processing depending on different modes and settings.
By the way, in case you're wondering, multi-frame processing does not mess up image quality. My Mate 10 Pro for example can take much nicer low light photos than your P10 because of this technology.

Because of the light ai. Shoot the exact same picture in pro mode with everything on auto, and you get a better picture with better quality. Again, put none ai Huawei against ai Huawei. Shoot standard on both, pro on both. Ai on and ai off. Again, pictures tell more than words and text. You can read that there's no difference, but you can clearly see there's a huge difference. Only pro mode is fully without ai.

Zenodroid, 13 Jul 2018If you have tried p10, and then the new ai phones. You would know that it can't be turned off.... more"After ai, it tells you to hold the phone steady while it finishes the pictures"
It's not because of AI, it's a multi-frame processing which has become available in Kirin 970. Since multiple images need to be merged together, you have to hold the phone as steadily as possible(several images are taken AFTER you have pressed the shutter) so that they are aligned correctly.

HutHutHut, 14 Jul 2018Hope Huawei use a new and preferably bigger senor for their main camera. This dual camera setu... moreOr they could just use exactly the same sensor as the main one but remove the bayer filter on the top to create a 40MP B&W sensor. In daylight it could enhance the detail level of colored daylight shots and at night it could be pixel binned to create a 10MP image which would be then combined with the color image to enhance the exposure and reduce the noise.

Hope Huawei use a new and preferably bigger senor for their main camera. This dual camera setup is getting a bit boring... All the hype about better low-light performance etc never quite translated into reality. Just use one 20 MP 1/2.3" or 1/2" sensor increase the aperture to F1.5 or 1.4 if they want to be truly class leading. AND hopefully the selfir camera receives a massive upgrade as well. Again put in a 1/2.3" 20 MP sensor --- and focus on the image quality...!!! No need for gimmicky bokeh effects etc. Just massive AF and IQ improvements will make this a winner.

Manhurt, 14 Jul 2018What a strong point about curved screen?the good things about having a curved or notched screen is, the uniqueness of it. You can show it off in public and you may look high class because most phones that have it were flagship phones and that will make it differs in other smartphone category (badget and midrange) apart from that, it was a trend. that's all!
