Anonymous, 14 Jul 2018Are people seriously still fighting over whether old is better than lcd? The burn in issue is ... moreYes, you're right. Over the phone's life (1-2 years) before it gets replaced), amoled/oled/p-oled screens are the right choice because it is very colorful and oversaturated which most people like, and has deep black levels and excellent brightness and contrast which people like. Beyond that (1 year for heavy users and 2 years for light users), the tell tale signs of screen burn, decreased maximum brightness and skewed white balance (from burnt amoleds) become significant making lcd based displays look much better onwards. Sure there are exceptions: the very light users who mostly just use their smartphones for calling, texting and photo/video capture (their amoled phones don't suffer much from burn ins), and the very heavy users who are going to have their amoled screens with significant screen burn in, in as little as three (3) months. Both are special cases.
Anonymous, 14 Jul 2018Only LG make bad oleds. In no universe will LCD be better than OLED. That's like saying you'... morelg bad . samsung is famous for burn in problem .No LG phones with oled screen ( v30 model ) not have burn in, v30 and note 8 are presented at the same time,. Note 8 already has burn in problem .I personally saw it note 8 with burn in
Are people seriously still fighting over whether old is better than lcd? The burn in issue is like flash drive's read/write limit, you aren't going to face it with normal usage!

Koala, 13 Jul 2018Samsung's OLED panels are the best on the market. It is a well-known fact. The crapmoled low resolution pendent and sawtooth that Samsung makes are garbage, are obsolete 8-bit screens poor in subpixels and manual brightness, with burns and radioactive colors
John, 14 Jul 2018How long do you keep your phones ? 10 years maybe ?
I have for example a spare galaxy S2 from... moreAn old 2013 amoled without screen burn, screen dimming, and without skewed reddish or yellowish white balance because the blue amoleds have been worn out faster? I pity your ignorance! You probably kept it largely unused to have a 5 year old amoled display without any dimming or burn in or color shifts - or you probably forgot after 5 years how the display actually looked like when it was brand new. Ignorance is bliss as they say.
Here, read this to learn more about the theory and principle behind amoleds: https://www.profolus.com/topics/advantages-disadvantages-amoled/
And while you're at it, read this recent news to learn about how real this amoled/oled/p-oles burn in issues are:
https://www.google.com.ph/amp/s/www.zdnet.com/google-amp/article/lg-switches-airport-oled-to-lcd-amid-burn-in-row/
And yes, a $1,000 phone should have its display last 5 years or more with zero permanent burn in issues, zero dimming, and zero color shifts. Why should it be any different from a $1000 IPS LCD tv that can last 10 years with minimal screen deterioration? Now you know!

I have for example a spare galaxy S2 from 2013 and still working without any burns on the screen.
So, your stupid opinion is worthless.
OLED > LCD !

That's like saying you'd rather drive a Ford Model T because it has less mechanical parts and cheaper to repair vs. a 2018 Camry.
Walter C. Dornez, 13 Jul 2018Uh, pretty sure the iPhone 9 was said to be 700 dollars with an LCD screenIf you're buying an iPhone in 2018, you're not that smart to begin with. To even dropping $700 on one? Well, might as well walk around with a sign that says "I'm a dumb sheep."
Anonymous, 13 Jul 2018LCD screen on a +$1000 phone. Let's see how many dumb people will buy into it.Why not? $1000 is a huge investment. IPS LCD lasts longer than amoled/oled/p-oled and retains accurate colors and brightness longer without screen burn for years. Costs cheaper too while lasting much longer without burn in or dimming issues. Makes perfect sense.
PCU, 13 Jul 2018burn-in crisis of lg display is saying hello to 2018 iphones. :DBurnin can only happen on oled panels and my V30 has still no burnin. People with burnin use their phone 24/7 on 100% brightness...
Anonymous, 13 Jul 2018True, I also wanted Japan Display LCD screen on the new iphone. However, Since the LCD technol... moreNo they're the same because JDI used to make for them with Sharp and LG
Why JDI lost money because Apple was there biggest client
LG makes fantastic LCD panels, and an LCD is great. Nothing wrong with the panel in my iPhone 6, great viewing angles and amazing colors. I thought Japan Display was supplying the panels for the iPhone 6 but not sure about that.
samsung's display color quality is so unreal.
