Attention: this article indicates that the Snapdragon 660 SoC features a 10nm SoC. In reality, the Snapdragon 660 uses a 14nm SoC . Here's the official info directly from Qualcomm: https://www.qualcomm.com/products/snapdragon-660-mobile-platform .
700 series SoC success rely's on its pricing segment. SD should scrap the 400, 600 & 800 series and move to 500 series as minimum to medium 710, 715, 720 and top 910, 915, 920... new nodes less power draw more towards green.
In my country (Hong Kong), prices of some S835 phones has already come down to around HK$3000 (US$382) e.g. Sony XZ1. If S710 is slightly inferior to S835, what should be the pricing of an average S710 phone?
Looks like the QSD 710 chipset is faster than MOST devices with QSD 820, but still slower than SOME devices with QSD 821. However, I'm betting it will do so whilst using less battery.
Overall, its a positive score from me.
I do wish that Qualcomm stop copying Intel's tactics (raising prices, suing people, wasting money on big marketing budget, and purposely confusing their devices etc etc). And hope they go for a more simplified system. Perhaps retiring the Snap-Dragon name for a new moniker to help ease the transition.
Would be great if they followed something like this:
Strike-Drake 210:
$10 per chip, aimed at devices $100-$200
(custom) 1 core A75 + 7 core A55
2.5GHz A75 + 2.0GHz A55
500MHz GPU MP4
14nm process node
No AI co-processor, all 4G radios
Strike-Drake 410:
$20 per chip, aimed at devices $200-$400
(custom) 2 core A75 + 6 core A55
2.5GHz A75 + 2.0GHz A55
500MHz GPU MP8
14nm process node
No AI co-processor, all 4G radios
Strike-Drake 610:
$30 per chip, aimed at devices $400-$600
(custom) 4 core A75 + 4 core A55
2.5GHz A75 + 2.0GHz A55
900MHz GPU MP8
14nm process node
No AI co-processor, all 4G radios
Strike-Drake 810
$50 per chip, aimed at devices $600-$800
(custom) 4 core A75 + 4 core A55
3.0GHz A75 + 2.0GHz A55
900MHz GPU MP16
7nm process node
Additional AI co-processor, all radios plus new 5G
Anonymous, 15 Jul 2018Snapdragon 835 phones cost € 280 today. For example the Moto Z2 ForceTrue, though you do get a more modern phone with the 710

I feel like this newer chipset by Qualcomm especially the SD710 aimed more for semi-flagship category instead of midranger. I dont even know where the fine line between upper midrange and semi flagship starts and ends. The price speaks for itself. I cant call it midranger if it near the price of a flagship.

I'm highly impressed on Mi8 SE.
What if certain intensive apps will open quickly like stock apps in the future?

I personally was just saying what I heard from someone else. I think Qualcomm goal is to try to trickle flagship performance to the mid-range
because the Kirin 970, while faster, is a lot more power hungry soc when pushed. (lower fps/W ratio) As simple as that. and this benchmark is simply to let you know where the 710 stands behind the 835/845, the mainstream leader people like to have.

My question is simple.... Worth it or not worth it ???
It's always worth to buy 1 year old flagship model like Samsung S8 or Huawei P10 for like 400 $ or Euros.... but what about new models with this chip ? What you thing folks ?
Why did you not include Kirin 970 scores? It totally destroys SD710 in graphics and is much better in multi-core?
You can already get 6GB RAM Kirin 970 phones for less than $300USD, and SD710 phones are more expensive.
So, more expensive, less performance (even without GPU Turbo), why would one buy SD710 phone?
