This is an advanced P&S, and not the typical stuff you used to seeing in stores. Obviously price will be high. Same goes for the RX10 model range.
Canon also has G7X and G9X models, only unlike Sony, they're targeting only the lower end of advanced P&S, and are underperforming compared to competition.
