iris scanner of samsung is not that good. it can unlock my note 8 by using my right eye only, my left eye is covered by my fingers. i am very disappointing. i am also embarrass by friends that my samsung iris scanner wont work well. i cant see that i did buy my samsung with defect. i hope they can see this. a 2015 phone that has iris scanner works well but my samsung............... $800 really? -_-

Look at that weak and aged Exynos 7870.... I'm pretty sure with iris scanner, it might increased the price and at the same time at the same price, Xiaomi offers better Snapdragon 600-series.

If eyes are exposed to IR within the distance of 2cm for more than 10 seconds, it might be harmful to your eyes. However, Iris scanning of S8/S8+ devices operates at a distance of 20cm~35cm within 1 second.
If you look at the iris recognition LED for more than 10 seconds or you are too close to it, the device will automatically stop iris recognition to protect your eyes. There is no harm for human eyes.
In addition, IR LED of the Iris scanner of S8/S8+ achieved safety certification of the highest level “Exempt” based on the international standard IEC 62471. (IEC: International Electronical Commission).

What better way to sell an overpriced midrange product by adding a practically useless iris scanner that has high failure rate that you'll never use it.
The futuristic sounding iris scanner sure helps attract naive buyers thinking the relatively high price for this midrange product (compared to other brands) is good value and worth it - even with that low resolution screen.
