Project treble helps this problem somewhat if the manufacturer makes even somewhat usefull drivers in the beginning. But still I Expect that while you can get some upgrades from other manufacturers meadiatech... not so much but now it does not prevent os upgrades like before, so the situation is better.

You have some amount of CPU power, GPU power, and power usage. Some phones are cheaper and slower, some phones are faster and more expensive so the kids can play games on them. Some chipsets place better on the power envelope, and some place lower, but none of them are really bad in that sense.
None of the anti-MediaTek trolls would've been able to tell from real life use what chipset a mobile phone was using, unless they looked it up in the specs sheet.
The A22 doesn‘t sound like mid range but rather like 80€ trash phone range

xyrotic, 18 Jul 2018"for mid range smartphone" So it actually take standard from other smartphone company . Its ... moreYep. He's not wrong at mentioning all Mediatek chipsets were in the middle part of the chipset world (even the X20 series and the failed X30, a blend of monstrous CPU and somewhat mediocre GPU at the time). For better understanding about the term 'flagship', do some research instead.
Luxor, 18 Jul 2018Bet this will be overused soon.Because of MediaTek's reputation, OEMs would rather overuse something like the SD630 instead, like how not so many people are against the overuse of SD625, but the first use of a new MediaTek chip already triggers a lot of people and instantly become analysts by having the same prediction; the product will fail because of having a MediaTek chipset.
sarkar the govt, 18 Jul 2018bro u dont know anything about chip i think u r sd fanboy brcoz ur fon having datHe's not a fanboy for saying something that does make sense.
Instead of calling him that, why don't you go and say what you know instead?? Not only you will help us learn more, you also don't have to bash someone or something who maybe just made some mistakes.

So it actually take standard from other smartphone company . Its not wrong all their chipset already mid range .
Joe Dickson, 18 Jul 2018All MTK processors are low to mid-range, they don't know the definition of flagship.'Flagship' means company's highest tier product. In this regard we could call the X-series the Mediatek's flagship, even if it placed nicely on upper-midrange tier rather than high tier where it supposed to be.

Yeah, it's "budget".
Yes more processors with poorer drivers support. Just what we needed.

Mi biggest beef with mtk soc's is an audio part, the built in audio codec is just not good enough compared to Qualcomm aqstic that is implemented in Snapdragon soc's. And thermal+power efficiency is again not on par to that of Snapdragon. A shame, btw same problems plague the Exynos chips by Samsung, which is why Snapdragon is an overall better choice compared to them.
