Or even do it where youre staying when you have WIFI. You should never need to rely on 2G to load maps when you travel.

Trust me, I used Tmobile's 2G data outside of US. The speed is pretty much unusable, you cannot even open google map when you get lost.
Wow, thats some expensive prices you have there...
Here in Denmark i pay one of the more expensive deals due to its good coverage, but still i pay 199dkk /ca. 30-32$ monthly.
I get
Free talk,
Free sms/mms
40gb high speed data pr month in Denmark
10gb high speed data in entire EU.
Same free sms/mms +talk included in 32 EU countries with calls to local country numbers + all numbers in DK.
So these "free market" prices smell more like monopoly agreement between those companies then actual price.
I have to stress that what i pay is phone deal from the top shelf, you can find much cheaper deals than this, but since i use my phone for work and i like to thavel a lot so no fuss with company im at today.

Sprint has the best international perks. I get unlimited texts and 2G for free anywhere I travel.
I know their domestic network is not great (it's decent where I live) But if you travel a lot, then Sprint is definitely worth a look.

Cheaper than my carrier here in Australia. They ask $10 day ($7.37usd) with only 100mb data. Heading to USA later this year for 30days, anyone got any recommendations on cheap prepaid sim cards in USA as $300 is too much for just 30days
Meanwhile pocket wifi in many countries cost $2-$3 a day with unlimited LTE..
Hm... I don't think Project Fi of Google will satisfy with just 15 GB of Data... I need around 40 GB in my case
