eddlang, 18 Jul 2018So let's ignore the rather unique looking 6.1, 7 plus, 8 S, 5.1, etc. models and only focus on... moreThey are all current Nokia phones bored in design, they do not attract attention, they have no personality, you can be seeing a Nokia and confusing it with a Xiaomi, with a Huawei, with an Oppo, like anybody else. The old Symbian Nokia and Microsoft had gorgeous designs. What is now totally boring and unattractive, they are ugly and frightening ... but this is the line of design that Nokia wants. I do not care that they bring good benefits, I prefer to pay less and have a phone that works very well and that is attractive.

        Fail design !!!

Nokia designing phones with "notch" ... :-(

A few years ago, when Nokia was running with the Symbian system and then with Microsoft, they launched some phones with spectacular designs (I still remember the canceled McLaren project, for example, a beautiful phone) ... but in the end, they continued designing without any personality, being one more of the pile that already exists, and where you can barely distinguish one from the other instead of differentiating yourself.

Anonymous, 18 Jul 2018What on earth does Trump have to do with this? No one cares where Trump and Putin met. I’m ... moreUnless you provide evidence that HMD is majority owned by chinese, either person/s or legal entity/ies, you have no case. As far as the current information points out, HMD is Finnish. Why are you so hellbent on convincing yourself that HMD is chinese? What purpose would it serve?

Even foxconn that is responsible for manufacturing is not a chinese company but Taiwanese.

As for your IKEA comment, it is a multinational corporation, so by your logic HMD is also an international corporation, which is still not chinese.

Anonymous, 18 Jul 2018The fact is, is that HMD are Finnish, and by your logic, every brand that exists in the world ... moreHMD Global is Finnish only on paper. IKEA is headquartered in The Netherlands. Does that make IKEA a Dutch company? This really isn’t that hard to understand.

I’m a Finn but even I don’t recognize HMD Global as a Finnish enterprise. It’s only Finnish on paper.

Lost interest? People buy mid-range phones based on price/performance and keep buying them until the next models come out. These are not expensive high ends for rich people.

Do you really think phones launch with zero issues? How can you not see that a bit delayed global launch is actually beneficial. It gives nokia the time to fix possible issues that might be present in the chinese variants. It might not be beta testing in the name but is nonetheless quite similar in practice.

So now you resort to personal remarks? Do you consider what you wrote "sensible"? How old are you then.

HMD Global is located here in Finland. The headquarter building stands at Nokia Campus in Espoo, about 10 km west from Helsinki city center. I see the building every morning and afternoon when I ride with my bicycle to work and back to home. Calling HMD and Nokia phones chinese is as pathetic as calling Apple chinese. By the way: I saw president Trump two days ago when he was visiting Helsinki

someone, 18 Jul 2018u Sir ..seriously need some tons of common sense !!!! ..... lol ... the reason he said 1% finn... more... and you sir need to read all the comments where these people try their hardest to pretend that HMD is chinese. They clearly mean the company and not the phones.

Even if they do mean the phones, so what? How is launching a few models in china first a bad thing if the phones themselves are well designed, specced and made? Nokia X6 and X5 look similar to some other chinese phones and suddenly they forget 8 sirocco, 7 plus, 5.1, etc. exist that look nothing like chinese phones.

Launching in china first and a few months later in other countries has a massive plus side that most people don't notice. Chinese are basically the beta testers here. They use the phones, HMD monitors the situation and makes note of all the issues encountered by users and then fix these issues by the time the Global variants launch.
