Is their a site with a list of how thick the glasses are that are used on the smartphones?
sometimes your expensive phone is so bad that i need to throw it against the wall.
Happens all the time.
Those companies is trying to fool us

Anyway,
This is really stupid... We need more scratch resistance not shatter resistance!
Plastic screens that can be easily and cheaply replaced is the best way! Then when your screen is scratched you can throw it away and install a new one cheaply. But it against manufacturers business models...
Most of us are careful with our phone and also put screen protector. If replacing a Gorilla glass is expensive, why not just put a normal glass so replacing it is cheap if it's shattered.
Fayth, 19 Jul 2018after Gorilla Glass 10, I still gonna put tempered glass on itLol! Talking facts!
akrazr, 19 Jul 2018just, do a tie with motorola and make something shatterproof already ! :PIt was plastic with P(plastic) - OLED

Until Gorilla Glass use a composition of Aluminium oxynitride, a screen protector will always be needed.
Not only is Aluminium oxynitride scratch-resistant up to Mohs level 9, it also is shatter-resistant.
Manhurt, 19 Jul 2018Yeah, That is why I like Plastic screen. But it must has evolution to has good scratch resist. It's highly unlikely that plastic will be scratch resistant as glass is. That's because scratch resistance is related to a material's hardness. A material that has greater hardness can scratch anything that is less harder. That's why sand can scratch glass because sand has silica/quartz (Mohs hardness of 8 or so) are much harder than glass (Mohs hardness of around 5 to 6). However, that hardness comes at a price of brittleness. Drop a piece of glass and it'll shatter. Diamonds are in fact would shatter easily if force is applied at their weak points. That's where plastics are better, they're not as hard but they had better shatter and drop resistance.

They are not even visible when screen off and you need to really look hard. Back of the phone is also glass with quite some deeper scratches, but since I have a white version, it's not even visible. If it was black glass or metal, it would already look terrible.
Anonymous, 19 Jul 2018Gorilla Glass 20 will still break Duh. No matter how u improve it, it is still glass, it will still break...
Ideally, the best setup will still be a plastic (shatter resistant) screen, with a gorilla glass (scratch resistant) screen protector
As long as you have the screen protector, you wont scratch your screen. And if you drop your phone, the only thing that will shatter is the protector, that you can simply change for 5 bucks
Hope it is better than GG5. GG5 was crap and extremely scratch prone in terms of microscratches. My 2 month old S9 has microscratches galore despite very careful usage on my part.
