Lucky India. Good luck to the rest of us.

Not at all surprised by the news.
This was to happen. It tried following footsteps of Apple, projecting itself as an exclusive brand. But they never realized that Apple is sole player in iOS. But that's not the case in Android world. With so many competitors and options in same OS, one cannot make it by imitating the strategies of Apple.
And above all, mobile was HTC's core business and didn't have any other diverse business to back up.

Sony, Samsung and LG will still survive as they have diverse business portfolio and mobile is just one of those businesses.

HTC has dug up it's own grave.

ALL our team enjoys their HTC One A9s. Stylish, metal, jacket, zippy, great interface solid performers. HTC have a level of quality in the top tiers. I hope they diversify from flag ship to solid, very solid non shiny non glass back mid-range with metal back and simply quality with personality.

An overpriced, not-much-ado brand exits one of the most price-sensitive markets...
It's sad to see like this a name that used to make some of the most stylish and innovative phones for the time.

It's just sad that the once great "hTc" is leaving the country. Back in the day, the HTC One V was the first smartphone that I owned, and boy was it great!
Don't know whether I would have bought an HTC again, but am still real sad that they are leaving, all because of their reluctance in keeping the price down, just so they are not compared with "cheap" brands like Xiaomi, Oneplus etc.
I am 1000% sure, if they launched their latest flagship in India in the 40k ballpark, they would have sold, not like hot cakes, but still a lot!
Still, don't care what others say, "HTC, you will be missed"
Ps..my One V died after serving me for over 2 years, when it fell in water, but I still have it, as a souvenir! Man that aluminium build, still would put many smartphones even today to shame!

Htc should not close this factory. Making phones in India is cheaper than in Taiwan.

Anonymous, 19 Jul 2018Not many companies left for you. Yeah. But what can I say, these brands are reaping what they sowed.
Nokia is also going downhill again. I am also a Nokia fan but their weird strategy of launching mobiles months late in India is beyond my understanding. India too is a very bug market just like China is. Still they overprice their models.
