Yeh, I have also heard or read that EMUI has too many ifs and buts. However, if the notification is turned off by default, it's better, IMHO. Otherwise, when I turn on data, notifications popup all at a time, and it makes you wait to open an app. But yes, I dislike the way Chinese vendors tend to copy Apple's OS (iOS has more bad stuffs than the good ones).

Have used Samsung, MIUI & EMUI and EMUI is the worst of the lot. Too many restrictions makes the phone unusable. It maybe coz am using Chinese version (Honor Note 8) but to even get regular whatsapp/mail notifications, have to dig deep into settings. Same issue with my Galaxy Gear S3 watch as the battery optimisation is so preventive that it keeps closing the relevant apps.
Do go through any Huawei/Honor phone reviews, software gets a big no from all the top reviewers.

Sure, you have a better "possibility" of getting OS updates faster, and you may feel the OS faster, but the mod may give you overall better experience. I prefer the Windows stock (clean install), and IMHO, the Android OS should have similar option (unfortunately, no options till date). Haters say Samsung TouchWiz is bad, but in recent times, this skin is actually very good. I have used Samsung, LG, Apple till date, but no experience with Xiaomi, Huawei, OnePlus, Asus and so on. But my friends say they are good as well as far as OS is concerned.

As far as I can tell, this kind of idea has existed for years. As for Samsung and Apple, what do you think? Nothing. They only care about flagships mostly, plus, I don't think they think that something that big is useful, seeing as how they already have phablets of their own

All you need to understand is that it's the screen quality and NOT the resolution that matters the most. For example, there are 1080p resolution 5.5" phones in the market, all displays don't fair well.

The other specs are almost undisputed...best Kirin till date, AMOLED, humongous battery (highly likely), great cam, 6/8 GB RAM, 128/256 GB storage (won't prefer 1440p though; 1080p preferred as it saves battery life without much compromising video experience).
