I think full screen Virutally no bezel looks ugly, the phone suddenly has no character. i wouldnt want to go back to chucky sony bezels but a small bezel top and bottom give your handset character.
Future wise id like a phone that had a small bezel top and bottom but the phone didnt have a top or bottom you could use it either way around. with both ear pieces doubling as speakers. this would be really handy if you cracked your screen and it was causing trouble one way just use it the other.

I mean, the display and the bezel are both covered under the same sheet of glass. The bezel-part of the glass doesn‘t stop the crack from entering the screen-part of the glass

Symmetrically designed 16:9 ratio phones like Meizu 15, Nokia 8 sirocco have thin and proportionate bezels & at same time 18:9 ratio phones like Sony XZ2 compact, Honor 9 lite have aesthetically pleasing proportions that are loved by one & all.
Even bigger behemoths like Huwei Mate 10 pro, Pixel 2 XL, Samsung S8+ & note 8 showcase perfect use of lower bezel by either implementing fingerprint scanner or stereo speaker in it.
These phone manufacturers should bring back backlit capacitive keys in lower bezel ! It's a nifty feature all companies skip just for saving few bucks.

Putting cameras under display won't take th... moreEven an in display fingerprint scanner sits on top of the display, the problem with putting the camera behind a display is that even on an OLED there is a fine matrix of transistors driving the screen, they are not transparent, and the camera would be visible through the screen when dark content is displayed, sadly I don't think that technology if feasable yet.

I don't mind side bezels up to 2 mm, as one of them holds the cover/case in place and the other makes it easier for my finger to reach the edge of the display without hitting the cover.
A chin is a good ergonomic choice until we see how good Google's gesture implementation is.

For the moment, I think the best option is to use small bezels like how Samsung does it. 2nd best option would be to use displays on the back. 3rd best option would be slide-out cameras (but only if they find a way to make it IP67/IP68 certifiable). 4th best option would be a notch or hole in the screen. That's what i think.

Putting cameras under display won't take that long. We'll see them in Chinese phones by 2020 (with imperfections) & mainstream phones by 2022 (with refinements). Wait & watch!

It might sound that its a long period of time but its not actually thats too fast.

Hole in the screen is actually not that impractical, it's just like the Essential notch but not connected to the upper edge. I'd expect it would have the same hidable status bar style as all the notch displays now, but it would probably be the smallest possible piece out of the display.

Honestly, I don't think this poll has any sense. We all know under display camera is the best option, since it really is the only one without a downside while being the most esthetically appealing. It would have been a lot more meaningful to ask the best alternative to the notch, PROVIDED we will NOT have under display cameras (with image quality comparable to the ones we have now) before a few years in the future

screen on the back is a good option for people loves taking selfies or groupies. is it really possible to have a camera underneath the display without a hole? that is interesting.
