Z2 to Z3 - minor design changes, but turns out to be one of the best Xperias to be made
Same transition might be seen this year.l
Won't mind the bezel though, it slim enough and have speaker firing toward the user, instead of some weird hybrid solution
How about deep bass inherited from motorola rokr,
Is it still available?
Review your post. Sony Xperia Z3 was released in the spring of 2014. We are talking here the Flagship that will be release during IFA show 2018. Not back tracking series.

It's not always about being able to discern pixels, rather how much better the image quality is on a 4K display.
While most won't be able to see individual pixels on a FHD+ display, there will be many people who can see the difference in pure picture quality between FHD+ and UHD (on 4K, images will have better resolution than on FHD+).
ProJames, 21 Jul 2018Come on you were doing so well! The XA2 Plus had a MUCH better design. Even though Sony went back to Xperia design in XZ2 series, XA2 still somehow gets the odd Lumia design. Surprising and disappointing.
Luckily both XZ2P and XZ3 have Sony style.
Corporal Clegg, 21 Jul 2018Xperia XZ and XZs have metal backs. I think XZ1 as well, if I'm not mistaken. My bad. Never read the reviews of those (because of size and the design). Thank you.
Shanti Dope, 21 Jul 2018XZ2 Premium has 4K HDR screen, and many people still prefer the classic 16:9 ratio. To be honest, this is more of a gimmick. I had a 1440x2880 screen and had to admit there is no difference to FHD+ other than VR. Can't imagine 4K being any different. But, well, if someone wants to pay extra for that, it's up to them. Though it's still weird timing by Sony. As usual.
xXENDER FREAKXx, 21 Jul 2018I wonder why they can never completely cover these holes, first it was the RAM, then the bezel... more''Holes'' is the appropriate word. It seems they rotate each time the teams working on a phone. You get the design team, then you get the camera engineers that erase what the design team did, then you get the performance experts that erase what....
In the end we get the phone the last team made in a week. Perfect in one apsect. Seems we're stuck in a cycle with the do-not-look-like-that-example team.

So, XZ3 is XZ2 with XZ2P camera. In other word XZ3 is simply XZ2 with improved camera and battery. Or another way to explain it, XZ3 is XZ2P with 18:9 ratio and downgraded display to FHD+ and smaller screen and smaller battery. Thats pretty much it. Sony really like doing this minor upgrade every 6 months. I dont really get it. Or Japanese simply just love working too fast?

Brandstifter, 21 Jul 2018Keep the metal backs? As far as I remember the last Sony phone with a metal back was Xperia P ... moreXperia XZ and XZs have metal backs. I think XZ1 as well, if I'm not mistaken.
Brandstifter, 21 Jul 2018Sony marketing is weird as usual. Who would ever buy XZ2P if XZ3 is coming, cheaper and better?XZ2 Premium has 4K HDR screen, and many people still prefer the classic 16:9 ratio.

S9+ has QHD+ display, but Samsung sets it to FHD+ at default. XZ2 Premium has UHD display, but it only works when the right content is to be displayed.
The thing is that mid rangers have inferior display quality to flagships other than in pure resolution numbers.
Brightness, contrast, color gamut range, average DeltaE, all those things make a flagship screen to be better than mid rangers and not just numbers.
Considering also other flagships, a lot of such is behind the times, its about time they realized they cannot have the same resolution as entry level smartphones.
