Galaxy S9 against the iPhone 6s at processing videos, and you guessed it right; the iPhone 6s is a lot faster.
iPhones are by no means the fastest in the world, but they are very consistent at everything. Heavy apps load up as fast as light weight apps, while on Android, only light weight apps are a hair faster to load than on iPhones, but heavy games take significantly more time to load on Android.
Look at the iPhone 6 for example. My friend has one, and it runs literally as smooth as any modern day smartphone, and I'd even go to say it's smoother than something like the Galaxy Note 8. Take note, that is a 2014 flagship phone being compared to a late 2017 flagship.
Not to mention how the iPhone 6 would continue to receive iOS updates up until it's finally incapable of running newer versions.

Back then, Snapdragon 801 was already "fast enough" on flagships with 5.5" screens. Guess what? Even Snapdragon 820 isn't enough by today's standards.
It's not always about being faster, rather being more powerful and capable of doing more things. And before you talk nonsense, let me tell you that the Adreno 630 on the Snapdragon 845 is half as powerful as the NVIDIA Integra's GPU, which in itself isn't a flagship processor AFAIK.
With more games coming into smartphones like PUBG Mobile and Fortnite, more power will always be needed to run those things. Not only that, even light weight social media apps like Facebook are starting to become heavy and power demanding as well.
So before you tell me to grow up, I suggest you try to think first, because I could tell that you didn't even tried to think twice of your statement before stating it.

There is NO Cortex-A77. The latest to date from ARM is Cortex-A76.

.alpha, 23 Jul 2018So Kirin 710 is essentially the same speed as Kirin 970?yes, but it should run cooler and more battery friendly. It looks better than 970 if you ask me.
why companies go after "paper" specs beats me. since SD820, all phones are smooth and Android is getting better each update. Faster than that is just to show off. I've one SD820 and another SD 835, the difference in speed is there...but do i need it? no...and I still have a smooth, lag free experience wwith my older sd820. The big advanged on my upgrade from SD820 to SD835 was battery life. It was a huge upgrade. I skiped SD845, just because it was still on 10nm. Waitting for this new generation of processores made in 7nm, not because they will be faster..just because they will be more efficient.
