You have to understand that over 90% of iPhone sales is to people who have ZERO knowledge about tech, or whether better products are there in the market. They buy an iPhone not because they want the best smartphone, they buy an iPhone because they want to buy an iPhone.
Even today, majority of tech reviewers claim competetors have much better camera than Apple, better screen, better battery etc etc, still iPhone X is selling like hot cakes, even when better products from competetors is available 10-20% cheaper.

People are brainlessly bashing apple without knowing the entire issue. If Qualcomm doesn't force OEM then even Samsung will stop using the snapdragon in the USA and without Samsung for marketing Qualcomm will probably lose half of it's market value.

That's just reported speed from the Qualcomm driver, not the actually speed which is affected by signal strength which is related to antenna design. All iPhones have the same antenna design so signal strength is the same. Qualcomm driver for units with Qualcomm modem just reports higher speed to cheat the test.

Anonymous, 26 Jul 2018That’s Qualcomm ‘s lost, people will still happily buy a lot of iPhones and Qualcomm gets $0. Money Isn't everything, prestige and company name are more important. And a company like apple better start playing nice because android is way ahead in marketshare, and qualcomm is an android supplier.

Apple is doomed if you ask me

So, $900 for a phone with a slower modem and an already weak signal reception, what a great steal! Next thing we know is that the next iPhones will be thermal throttling like what is happening to their i9 Macbook Pros. Ingenious business sense at it's finest! /s.

Qualcomm need to provide some funds to those popular phone review sites to add this test as part of their performance tests. That will show the inferior of Intel modem chip, eventually affect the iPhone sales.
