Meh. MX Player FTW.Although MX is a great apple, the free version of VLC doesn't shove ads in my face wherever I go, and going through the settings does bring it close (but not equal) to MX in usability.
I reserve MX to offline viewing
Geric.770, 26 Jul 2018VLC!? Meh. MX Player FTW.No ac3 in your playlist? VLC does all, no excuses.
I'm assuming YouTube red may suffer with this too...
Shit software Chinese phone... that shuts down all background ups so it has enough CPU and memory to load and sent your personal data to China HQ =)
and suddenly vlc is only video player that huawei phones make it crash.what other players like mx player do for the problem?do that
that's one of the reason i switched from huawei, i agree with VideoLAN's comment, killing all background apps is stupid. but they do that just say "hey, huawei batteries last longer". I would never use huawei again
AnonD-558092, 26 Jul 2018Read again. It says Huawei closes ALL BACKGROUND APPS, except their own apps. Doesn't matter i... moreIt actually closes only apps that are chosen to be closed and it does not matter of it's huawei's or not
Huawei phones set newly installed apps to automatic, and I had no problem with VLC or any other media player when I turned my screen off. So really don't get what VLC is saying here
AnonD-558092, 26 Jul 2018Read again. It says Huawei closes ALL BACKGROUND APPS, except their own apps. Doesn't matter i... moreOther music apps work fine on my Honor 9. Chrome isn't force closing. Asphalt 9 stays in ram even after locking the screen. (and that game was just released last night) Microsoft Edge stays in ram. Youtube has been in ram for two whole days before the phone warned me about battery intensive apps in the background. Even then, it did not close them. I can name a bunch of other apps that don't force close in EMUI. They need to work on their app. It was the same issue with their app on Windows 10 Mobile as well.
Poor android users
Whackcar, 26 Jul 2018VLC mobile version is trash anyway. MX Player is hundred times better!guess never used one!
mx is like a toy!
MIUI also quite aggressive on this regard. Not as aggressive as Huawei, but still annoying when we debug our app on the background. Well... At least they didn't kill active background apps like Huawei does.
Basically, I'm done with any custom ROMs. Either by indie devs nor OEM ones, specially Chinese ones. Korean and Taiwanese based OEM still on moderate stands on this matter so I suppose they are ok enough. But for me, pure Google Android still the best (hello Android One devices).
.alpha, 26 Jul 2018If you app isn't a battery hog maybe phones won't have to force close itRead again. It says Huawei closes ALL BACKGROUND APPS, except their own apps. Doesn't matter if it's a battery hog or a harmless frugal application, Huawei's system will force close it.
And VLC does not cause battery drain issues at all
If you app isn't a battery hog maybe phones won't have to force close it
Had the same problem but with the nova launcher... Phone got really laggy and kept rebooting. Basically was forced to use terrible Huawei launcher
Ummm.... it does do drain the battery pretty good.
And if you don't want to see the notifications, turn it off in the settings.
I for one like the way Huawei gets a bit hyper pointing out battery draining apps. You KNOW it's there and have the option of closing it. It's not just closing things on it's own.
I installed it on mine today fine
Good Guy, 26 Jul 2018Cant you just whitelist the app you want in background? And I think their is an option that ma... moreNobody is going to mention that because "Huawei is such a bad company"
Anonymous, 26 Jul 2018We can disable killing of apps In background from phone manager app in EMUI. And this solves t... moreStill, it should not be the default!
