Why haven't anybody considered removing selfie camera at all? I literally use it once in a year! Saves space and money. Make a poll of how many people will be okay if there is no slefie camera!!!

Bezels make a phone bigger and harder to use. Try to operate those Sony ... moreLMAO bezels are there for great sounding stereo speakers
It can also have a 13MP AF 1/3.6" front camera (for reference, it is of the same size as the main camera of the iPhone X)
For gaming, they provide a lot of grip to make sure you don't accidentally drop the phone
For messenger, the bezel less design can cause accidental touch onto something, like the phone call feature of messenger
Anonymous, 29 Jul 2018Do you ever think? Bezels make a phone bigger and harder to use. Try to operate those Sony ... moreBuy smaller phone. Bezels don't matter.
What is wrong with you folk who reckon having sensible sized bezels make a device impossible to use ? Do you have tiny little hands with deformed stumpy fingers or do you only have one usable hand ?
Me, I have quite small hands, but happily use 8 inch tablets, like nexus 7lte,i don't know what stupid clothes you wear, but I have no problem pocketing tablets in my clothing.
What annoys me about device makers is they now all copy a single design and expect one design idea to suit everyone, which is plain stupid, give me a 7 inch screen, thin side bezels, 1 inch top and bottom bezels, with good front facing stereo speakers, 3.5mm and huge battery, lose the front camera, ive never taken a selfie yet and probably never will.
Give us a wider choice of device layouts, what some love, others loathe...

Camera under the display?? Most retarded idea ever, how's it possible to replace a broken screen, this means needing to replace the camera aswell meaning more $$$ repair costs. What if the screen was OLED, wouldn't the under display camera suffer burn outside the camera lens. This concept is ridiculous and beyond stupidity. I believe Vivo Nex pop up camera is revolutionary and should be a trend all manufacturers should follow.

Bezels make a phone bigger and harder to use. Try to operate those Sony ... moreDo YOU ever think? Do you ever think about the fact that there are difference between people? They have different tastes, different ways of holding the phone, different preferences, different hand sizes, different opinions ... What is suitable for one, is not suitable for others. What you like, someone else dislikes.
So, again, do YOU ever think?
A year is 365/366 Days.
A day is 24 hours.
An hour is 3600 seconds.
If we consider pop up camera operates in 1 second and a photography enthusiast want to capture all the moment with the selfie camera of its phone, maximum count is 100 shots per hour.
if we deduct sleep time and rest room time for each day, 14 hours is operational for photography.
Then:
A day is 100 X 14 = 1400 Times Pop up Camera (TPC)
A year is 365/366 X 1400 = 511,000/512,400 TPC
So pop up solution is useless.
If we consider phone camera as casual or business gadget of photography, then video calls will account for 10 TPC per day + 10 TPC more for selfie during a day.
Then:
A day is 20 TPC
A leap year is 7,320 TPC.
Which means the use of pop up solution depends highly on its user.
300,000 TPC life span is not enough for an abusive photography enthusiast or a person who unlocks it Oppo Find X with facial recognition.
300,000 TPC on the other side, will guarantee absolute 10 years of working flawlessly for a business or a casual user who unlocks the phone with under display fingerprint sensor and takes selfies or video calls in a time range without continuous switching to play up/down with selfie cam in a phone like vivo NEX S.
Under display camera is another challenge. Quality, Pixel Count, Clarity, Light distortion, Hues in images to name a few are problems which we faced during development process. Right now, current results are neither stable nor satisfactory.
I am for NEX S and against Find X style of using mechanical mechanism in smartphones.

Try to operate those Sony ... moreThats why smartphone comes with many different sizes, u dont like too big that hard to use, so just simply buy the smaller phone that u comfortable with. Obviously most phones with different sizes still the same no matter bezel or less bezel, size range from 4-6.5inches, choose yourself which comfort u. Some people comfortable using 7inch tabs with no problem, some people just like 4inch.

Bezels make a phone bigger and harder to use. Try to operate those Sony bezel monsters. It is like having a colonoscopy or something equally uncomfortable.
Those who voted bezels, don't think. Even a notch is a better solution than a bezel, despite not being the ideal solution.
Poll results:
Readers of tech sites are ret***ed
There is literally no justification for their opinion.
Top bezel is useless space, better use either side of it for notifications and signal bars or ... You know keep it useless space because some fanboys don't know how to think.
Also the notch is easily hidden on amoled panels by using black notification background so the aesthetic part is mute too.
Basically why I do not believe in asking the consumers. They are always wrong. They'd probably still be using floppies or no computers at all of it was their opinion that mattered.
As Steve Jobs once said "people don't know what they want until you show it to them"
I find it hilairious so many people think cameras under the display are going to happen, its not remotely possible with todays display technology.
Even transparent OLED is not really transparent, the best that has been acheived is 68% transparancy and that's a low resolution 100ppi display optimised for transparancy rather than image quality, I imagine that a 400ppi+ smartphone screen is going to be much worse.
The organic phosphors in an OLED screen are opaque, as are the transistors and circuit traces driving the display, putting a camera behind there would be like putting it behind a fine mosquito net, you would loose much of the light, suffer visual artifacts from coloured phosphors in front of the lens, and unless you put a dark filter in front of the camera it would be visible through the display.
So no, with current display technology you can't put a camera behind it, the best you could hope for is small holes in the display or maybe a low resolution section with the camera and sensors behind it but it would be visible either way.
Top and bottom bezels for dual stereo speakers is the best thing one can do (just like pixel 2 xl)
Notch or no notch, bezel or less bezel makes no different to phone function. U still can texting, surfing net, fb, tweets, play games, watch youtube, bla bla bla anything u do to on the phone are all still the same, with notch or no, bezel or less. Try not to make thing complicated. Its just ur obsession. After all, in the end the phone still break down.
Geric.770, 29 Jul 2018Cameras under display is the real innovation here. Still waiting for Samsung to respond this one!Wait NASA develope it lol
Get rid of the front camera entirely,....and invest in audio department....some proper (headphone)amp and some DAC's...possibly even some bundled earphones that can be used for more than one purpose only-to act like an antenna for FM radio..
