It removes clutter and so much in our lives that fill up our pockets. I have many SLRs but I don't want to take an SLR with me to certain places because I don't want to carry a bag or have something clunky like that with several lenses/batteries. Phone cameras are so good now that you can take most your pictures with it and the quality is great. If you really need an SLR, you'll get an SLR. But the better the camera is, the less people are gonna need an SLR. When I go on holiday sometimes I just don't want to my SLR with me, my phone has saved me!

Neither one is important. If someone needs really good photos, he will shoot with a DSLR or mirrorless camera, not with a phone. And for kind of photos someone takes with a phone, any modern phone camera is good enough.

Rotating camera? Motorirized one? No, no ... there is a mirror on the back of SE K750i, which is simple and useful solution. They should put it back, we want notch free phones with thin bezels

Front-facing camera is rather an addon. I use it barely, as I don't post myself in social media and video-chat. The rear one is my primary and the only one camera, so it has to be at least decent.

I would like to say: both, of course it didn't answer the question. However, having a very good back camera is a plus, I mean single, double, triple or whatever, the point is the camera should have a large sensor let say near to APS-C, it sound ridiculous but I always love big sensors. And also, either front and back cameras should have the same capabilities and same specs, don't be like some 15 years ago, back camera equipped with 3.15 mpix and the "selfie" camera is VGA, hahaha...just laugh on that specs.

I say front.
Currently, rear cameras are good enough (PDAF, OIS, etc). If you really want DSLR quality, then get a DSLR.
Front camera, on the other hand, have been neglected for a long while. Majority don’t even have auto focus, let alone OIS. Considering the utility of front facing camera (not just selfies, but for bloggers, etc), it needs the proper attention to be on par with the rest camera.

Luxor, 30 Jul 2018Speaking of moving parts and this stigma of using selfie cam, what your view on camcorder? Cam... moreWe do use our phones more than any other tech device, so it is somewhat justified. But I can agree with you. moving part for selfie camera is totally acceptable for me. Even getting rid of that selfie camera would be ok, but just in case I need it, being motorized is perfectly ok.

Selfie cameras... Keeping the narcissists of our generation happily it...

Most of the people here (who visit GSMArena) are males (i'm not assuming anyone's gender) and most of them aren't self absorbed self obsessed so most would choose the rear camera over the front.
This isn't a good survey because if you have this on an active social media account full of male and females, females would choose the front and males won't even bother voting.lol

Any camera , frnt back side elsewhere... if its camera it should be of good quality... the front cam can have less MP but they should be big, like 2um or so...

offcourse the camera at back is more important then front yes it is mainly because of frequency of usage. Rear camera needed more technological advancement to become more compelling against point and shoot to some extent even mimic the DSLR. The selfie is created by stars of the show it is more of a modern tech needs rather then real life necessity.

I think there should be an option "Both".
I personally care about rear camera over front camera. But front cameras on flagship are very good and no need more, except an OIS.
One more thing, I'm tired of those smooth skin effects of selfie camera. Please don't do it.

I could literally use one hand to count the amount of times I used the selfie camera. On Samsung its a liability, since it often switches to the selfie camera accidentally, so if there was a phone without it I would be the first to get it.

It reminds us when we are old, where we have been, who we are with.

Quality pictures of wild life, scenery are all secondary.. we can always get it online or buy postcards from shops.

For me, i prefer the back camera for quality and wider view. (but need other people to help take the picture).
Selfie camera for that quick moment.
