Perhaps this is an accessibility feature for old people with bad eyesight?
If it is not then it is truly and utterly pathetic that some stupid lawyer ever granted crAppl€ any sort of patent for a matrix of icons. Why not go back a few millennia and also retrospectively sue the architects of ancient Mesopotamia for daring to use mosaics in their ancient architecture? (actually, better not give crAppl€ any ideas - they'd probably seriously consider it).

The BIGGEST LIE is lying between the lines,

Samsung update policy is plain non sense.

I really hope that it will be optional and give us the choice to stay on small i cons or go to big icon....They just could change the icon designs there are many designs they can go for and it is even will look better than any other icons....but I still Love Samsung and its products.

why didn't samsung make 4*5 menu instead?? like horizontal waterfall effect! would look cool just like the vertical effect in go launcher and nexus s!

That cheapens it & requires more scrolling. If anything, with screens this large, there should be more icons than the much smaller iPhone.

It's like downgrading is the option to select smaller or larger icons is not available!
I AM NOT WILLING TO LOOSE THE CURRENT 4X4, ESPECIALLY THE BOTTOM 4 DEFAULT ICONS.
COME ON SAMSUNG. Go for option selection by user, 3x3, 4x4 or 5x5.

nokia recently change their widget design and they also have sofware update feature. so samsung is now copying nokia.

This update is just an additional/optional function for the aged peoples who have some problems using smart phone.
- It provides 'bigger font home (30% bigger)' to make it easier for the aged to read the icons.
- It provides 'System updated widget' using FOTA(Firmware over the air) to make it easier for the aged to update the phone, with no need to connect to computer.
- It provides 'favorite peoples' and 'favorite application' with bigger icon to make it easier for the aged to read the icons.

I think they prepare for hd screen so it'll back to 4x4, since higher pixel means smaller pixel's size.
or they just have eyes problem, who knows..

they should just add a option for 3x3 4x4 5x5...
that way Apple cant complain, cuz if it looks like iphone, it is not sammys fault, it is the fault of the user.
3x3 would really kill the phone... for 3x3 you dont need high resolution... it would look like a 400 x 250 display that way... Oh boy, hope they just give us the choice.
