Was not questioning origin at all, however, Samsung have been facing a lot of legal hassle due to infringement from Apple, that is why my opinion below. It would be a move to step away from any similarities with Apple.
If Samsung and Sony Ericsson were engaged in legal battles, my opinion would have said Sony Ericsson instead.

4x4 is nothing to do with Iphone. It was Sony ericsson who first made 4x4 icons about 6-8 years ago. Apple wins because they are Americans. Thats the only reason.

I hope that rom chefs can cook this "update" out of future roms, as many people like a big screen to put more info on it, not less. Users of high end smartphones are generally not legally blind 90 year olds. Why not 5 icons?

Looks lyk bada which i hate... Also looks like a cheap chinese device interface.... If thz will be default thn i will change ma android phone frm samsung to either lg or htc.... Touch wiz 4.0 is much better than thz bada lookin interface....

Actually, they are adding the extra large icons to accommodate the increasing user base of midage people who are not as tech savvy as the younger generation... How do I know? BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT THEY SAID AT THE KOREAN PRESS RELEASE! (P.S. I can read Korean cause I'm Korean, surprise surprise!)

This is for seniors or old citizens who doesnt have close vision. Like ur grand parent wont be able to read it due to the high resolution. I know this fact from parents n the customers who are after this function.

Wow..this is a good update..i really like when the icons are large..that will be a smart move..hope it comes to all Galaxy II family especially the T-Mobile one as i cant wait to grab one..Sammy goodness!!

I really hope that this icon sizing update would be user selectable. Will be ABSOLUTELY waste of useful space with only 3 icons!!!
