S6 User, 01 Aug 2018What put me off buying the XZ2 was:
No 3.5mm Headphone Jack.
No Camera OIS.
No OLED
I wa... more1. It has an extended mini jack cable along with the charge usb cable (2 in 1) and can be found in some online stores.
2. Ois is not great at all for this kind of devices. All of pertinent comparisons (including mine) between P20 pro and XZ2 proved that.
3. How much time is needed to understand that OLED is only a gimmick and it's only a mutation of an LCD structure that affects the eyes in time and not only? And Sony made an LCD that now deals perfectly with power consumption also. So how much time to understand this??

What put me off buying the XZ2 was:

In my opinion Sony's service is not available in around world. Samsung,Apple and before Nokia was giving facilities to customer, but Sony why not available in all market?

I still have a soft spot Sony Z series ... A Z3 compact is still on my shelf.
There was a time when Jony Ive copied Sony designs. Alas, that is no longer the case.

At least for that, it's a great point to continue its business compared to the most fake marketing for Huawei or Xiaomi. Nokia is just a ghost of the past. The most innovative and livelong electronic company will always remain Sony. Samsung?! Come'on people buying franchises you call innovation? Sony is also, the only international trademark to top Apple in quality of its products. Sony won't die. Trolls yes!

Sonys majority of sales is budget and midrange, not a big market for that in Japan. On the high end Japan is same as the rest of the world: Android declining, and iPhones nearing 90% high end marketshare. The rest of the high end market is mostly Samsung selling more than all other Androids combined, obviously that doesnt leave much for Sony.

That Sony will stop making smartphones has been a given for years, i was an Xperia user since the SE days and had several after the SE era too. Then the rapid decline came, and the mistake of never releasing a 1080p compact phone, which lots of people was waiting for. Then the overheating, and the poor battery times (in real life usage) and finally the nail in the coffin came in the form of the iPhone SE; now iPhone had much better display, better battery, twice the performance when cold and 10 to 20x the performance when hot.
What did Sony do to counter the iPhone SE? Nothing! They never tried to compete, still no 1080p Compact, and then finally removing the Compact altogether, presumably because of poor sales. I have to assume they wanted poor sales, since they never tried to look what made iPhone SE a big hit and try to copy its key points: Classic design, smaller, faster, super premium metal feel and finish. It looks like the Sony is preparing for the end of Xperia, they know its going south but chose to pretend they will not give up.

It has very poor noisy camera, it lacks of wireless charging, which i use a lot and it has poor battery, despite its size (Redmi 4 had far more powerful battery in smaller case), lacks of IP67/IP68 certification. And design wise - it's cheap. Looks like budget chinaphones. Top/bottom bezels are also quite large. Huawei P20 offers same for twice lower price in much better design.

Pity... Competition would do good... and pity that XZ2 compact was the last compact phone... Maybe I have to buy one more as a spare if none else will produce good compact phones.

Cali , 01 Aug 2018Smarter then you think, just watch there long term strategies. Yeah.. sonymobile always have "long" strategy. Because sonymobile cant afford to do anything quicker.
Competitors are always faster and 10 years ahead.
Sonymobile is always slow like a walking snail.
