Surprisingly all attempts at modularizing smartphones so far have failed.

AnonD-754421, 02 Aug 2018Not to mention support for larger CMOS's, I'm for the hump if it means a camera upgrade.Adding to that point.
With chipsets becoming fast enough for almost any type of usage, I wouldn't mind one used for 3-4 years on new phones (as long as it supports newer APIs) while using better and more expensive camera sensors.

I use to have Sony's.. I even had the xz premium for a while..
But what gets me is you can't choose when you want to use the 4k screen, they removed the headphone jack on the later ones..
Also the battery gets hotter.. the screen did look nice.. but after about a year's worth of usage the phones slowed down. And experienced crashes both of my old Sony devices..
Swapped to the note 8 close to a year in and no signs of slowdown on the exnos chipset no crashes and no issues..
Look if you want a Sony buy one they have decent lcds..
As someone already stated.. the things you mentioned.. are marketing terms also if I remember Sony use to use a higher dci-p3 so it produces a wider colour gamet.

"Oled have more issues than LCD with viewing angles, also the burn-in".

I've often seen this mentioned, but only in these forums.

I've played alot of Chess on this phone that has a sAMOLED & I've had it over 3 years, but yet I cant see any trace of the chess board I use.

Or does 'burn-in' mean something else?

Anon.D, 01 Aug 2018More like several generations behind.. You can add as many fancy words like 4k, hdr, 10bit a... more1 - XZ Premium's 4K HDR screen is NOT a joke. You can try to convince yourself that it's "just" an IPS LCD. It's basically just your own way of declining what's definitely good.
There is backlight bleed, but having it for the sake of clear shadows is a good trade off, unless your life is boring and everything you watch is nothing but dark videos. High power consumption you say huh? XZ Premium gets a 72h Endurance Rating on GSMArena, which is about as good as the iPhone X's, with only a 1080p+ sAMOLED HDR screen.
Idk how you define a bad viewing angle, but I don't see phones anymore with bad viewing angles, be it IPS LCD or sAMOLED. Besides, XZ Premium only has a slight brightness loss at extreme angles, while S9+ has major color shift on the same situations. IPS LCDs can be as accurate, or even more than, OLEDs; iPhone 8 Plus is a perfect example, and XZ Premium can be as well.

2 - Thanks for promoting something I already know. The only thing is that you tried to make IPS LCD like a garbage just to promote your sh*t. I get it that you love OLEDs, but you could be a least truthful to what you're saying. It's as if you were just watching Samsung's ads and treat them as facts.
OLEDs have both advantages and disadvantages compared to IPS LCD, so it's up to the user whatever he/she wants. No need to force people to s*ck what you love. I prefer IPS LCD but never once have I tried to persuade you to switch to it.

3 - Implementation of 4K resolution could definitely be better, but it's still smart nonetheless. Use that much resolution only when it's really needed. Yep, Samsung does this better than Sony, but it's not really that much of a big deal. As long as it works, there should be no problem.

4 - Sony isn't forcing you to use it all the time, but you'll appreciate the great quality that it shows. Even if it's just on social media, some things like wider dynamic range and better color accuracy would be noticeable even on non-HDR screens but at a much less extent.
OIS isn't necessary anymore since Sony has super high ISO with great handling of it. OIS is just to lessen the camera shake produced by motion, but introduces wobbling distortions and all that, and EIS simply can't fix it.
Go and take your Samsung's 12 seconds, while I'd wait for Sony's 5 minutes after the successor of the IMX400.

5 - Such features can be had from the Play Store; it's a damn Android phone!
Yep, definitely not a fan of jack removal, but Sony does provide a Y-type dongle for both headphone jack and USB C port, so at least it's there.

AnonD-772315, 01 Aug 2018But man, the XZ2 Premium does not even have a headphone jack, you can forget the rest. XdJust like how the Note 8 had no stereo speakers and only the Note 9 will, but somehow people still insisted on comparing it to the XZ Premium and still give the overall remarks to the Note 8??
XZ2 Premium has no headphone jack, but it can still play music through headphones. That's the main thing.

And do you remember when the Xperia Z was waterproof while the Galaxy S4 is a plastic mess?
Yep, S4 is still better than the Z. I love it when popularity eats people's minds.

They put XZ2P beside Nex S to compare screens. The difference is huge. All Sony flagships use 120Hz screen ( XZ2P has 144Hz) with much wider colour gamut than iphone X. Even wider than S9+. Phone has RGB control .

You can also look at a post on weibo by Zackbuks, a post that shows XZ2P beside iphone X to compare screen. X looks so washed out.

Oled have more issues than LCD with viewing angles, also the burn-in.

XZ2P is BT2020 certified, other phones are just HDR10 certified

S9+ has 2GB DRAM, XZ2 has 1GB because it has older sensor. It should have 1080p too.

People should stop saying some stuff is gimmick, but useful when Samsung or Apple decides to use.
