Luxor, 01 Aug 2018Camera hump are heavily criticized by reviewer. Cant risk it. Most reviewers don't like wobbly devices, but a silicone cover solves it.
On the other hand, afaik, taking the lenses farther from the sensor allows for bigger sensors with less distortion on the edges of the frame.

You can add as many fancy words like 4k, hdr, 10bit and triluminos to an LCD display, yet it will still be an LCD display with low contrast, back light bleeding at the edges, high power consumption, bad viewing angles and low colour accuracy.
On the other hand Samsungs AMOLED screens are the screens of choice when it comes to contrast and colour accuracy (go read the review of phones with AMOLED displays, go to display section and you'll see AMOLEDs get consistently high ratings when it comes to contrast, colour accuracy and viewing angles.)
4k display on a 5.8 inch phone is pointless because Sony is running the phone in 1080p instead of native 4k and there is no option to change that unlike on Galaxy smartphones.
HDR recording you say? Another irrelevant feature because to view HDR you need a HDR capable TV or a monitor which majority don't have. Most videos shot on phones end up on instagram or Facebook, don't see them supporting HDR, it's 2018 and Xperia cameras don't even have OIS and that laughable 3 second slowmo, I'd rather have the Galaxy note 9's 12 second 720p slowmo than Xperias 3 second slowmo at 1080p.
Oh did i mention, Sony disables basic android features like night light and double tap to wake, there is also no advanced multitasking like multi-window, you just get standard android multitasking while Samsung takes it further, letting you run as many apps in multi-window mode.
Then to top it all off there is no headphone jack on Xperia!!

I cant put my finger on it but I just don't find the unit exciting in looks and is extremely close to its previous. Pass. Hope it does well for them.

Edge Display(which might not be everyone's cup of tea)
Exynos performace>Snapdragon performance
Better Camera(Sony might have better hardware but thanks to there software their phone can never utilize the hardware to its full potential)

Samsung failed on their first waterproof smartphone (Galaxy S5) while Sony didn't exactly failed on their first waterproof smartphone (Xperia Z).
First 4K display on the Z5 Premium ran better than expected.
