the mainstream phone should be named iphone 9 and the flagships named 11 and 11plus.
reset from there and don't fudge it up this time.
James Whister, 05 Aug 2018iPhone 11 and 11 plus. iPhone SE plus. Going in a fun way, it could also be iPhone SE X. lol.. well said .. xd
iPhone 11 and 11 plus makes most since in marketing terms, everything else makes much less
Sebstin, 06 Aug 2018No more 4.5" to 5" phones? Thats too bad... Not really ..not in 2018 when it's the era of bezel less phones. Phones with 6 inch screen are smaller than most 5.5inch of 2016/2017. You can do a lot thingsmuch easier with bigger screen estate. Coming from a galaxy s7 user. Can't wait to upgrade to a bigger screen phone.
83662196, 06 Aug 2018I think Apple will call the mainstream iPhone the iPhone 9SE, indicating it's the successor to... moreI think they will simply call iPhone 9 for main stream phone and I doubt they will use XI, though it look cool in someway.
The main reason is that XI sounds ‘dead’ in Chinese and China is their 2nd largest market. I don’t think they will take the risk of superstitious Chinese customers.
I think Apple will call the mainstream iPhone the iPhone 9SE, indicating it's the successor to the iPhone 8, and the iPhone SE too.
And the flagships will obviously be the successors to the iPhone X, so I think they'll be called the iPhone XI (11 in roman numerals), and iPhone XI Plus. (Since we are pretty much guaranteed to get a plus-sized varient).
This year thinks are different and a simple logic reveals how Apple will call the upcoming iPhones. Let's analyse:
- Two distinct lineups: OLED: 5.8" and 6.5" - these must have similar names sans for the "Plus" moniker on the larger variant/ LCD: 6.1" is a cheap variant of the above.
- 3 different iPhones: 5.8 and 6.5 inch variants are indeed the standard lineup; not the premium one, while 6.1 inch variant is the X on the cheap. X successor must be (indeed is) the successor of not just the X, but also iPhone 8 successor (form factor hint), while 6.5 inch variant or the X Plus is the successor of iPhone x Plus with the look of the X, while the SE 2 or the 6.1" variant, the successor of the iPhone SE (4" form factor with iPhone 6s internals).
- The X (ten not ex) is a one-off, the anniversary edition and an early taste of what was about to come this year with a salty price. Indeed logic say (rumours say the same XD) that iPhone X will be discontinued (along SE, 6s and 6s Plus) by september 15, time which new lineup will be announced.
5.8" - iPhone 11
6.5" - iPhone 11 Plus
6.1" - iPhone SE Plus
or my personal opinion:
5.8" - iPhone Pro 5.8" (1st Gen)
6.5" - iPhone Pro 6.5" (1st Gen)
6.1" - iPhone 6.1" (1st Gen)
the X is special version celebrating ten years of iPhone. I don't think X will show up again. It should be 11. So the LCD should be 11 SE also.
I know a view names.
Lazy creators phone
Most expensive phone
Again ugly notch phone
So with the name of iPhone X (ex or ten) gone, I guess the current IPX will be a good to keep phone for loving memory?
I think samsung X next come will amazing if name it iphoneX MarK II
